Thought I would review a movie who had a terrible poster making team behind it.
^^^Somebody went into MS paint and spliced the characters cutouts into a dark background. Just awful.
This never happened. Why is she so calm? I would be ducking.
They are standing ON FIRE.
Thankfully...the movie was nowhere near as bad.
As a big constantly dissapointed fan of the terminator series I went to see this.
IMO terminator 2 was pretty much the peak of this series.
There was something about the future introduction that was fantastic. And the rest of the movies I kept wanting to see this exact thing....what happened after judgment day....all the robots and future stuff.
Terminator 3 was almost a parody of itself but it was "ok".
Terminators Salvation was one wierd flick. On one hand, I thought it was quite good. It actually gave me what I wanted. The robots...and after judgment day...but it was very different from what I expected. A lot more desert feel to it, vs apocolyptic blueish wasteland. Also it had batman! Which was pretty cool, but the whole thing was kind of strange. But it was pretty good.
Which brings us to this one. It felt like a mix of every single terminator but done with a new twist. If I had to place it I would put it as almost equal footing to Terminator 2. However it is let down by the slightly more fast paced, bit more modern take, gimmicks to the whole thing.
Now the good. First the obligatory intro future scene was fantastic! Everything I wanted since terminator 2!! The blue landscape was back. Tons of terminators. More flying stuff. Some sort of spider mech. Time machines.
Also
Doctor Who was one of the time travelling bad guys! Squeel!!!
What I liked about this one was that it really helped to preserve the atmospheric feel of terminator 2. Also I think they took it in a bold new direction. It was a revamp but it wasn't trash.
For instance my favorite terminator was the liquid metal Robert Patrick.
And this movie knew it. They gave it to us in a new (Asian) terminator who actually felt pretty intimidating unlike Kristiana Loken! A good job was done by whoever was the random actor in that role.
Thank you Chicken Little or whatever your name was.
For anybody that has seen the trailer they sort of give away the John Connor twist. And the good news is that he wasn't bad. The effects were pretty good. I felt he was a decent villain. Better than Kristiana Loken.
The main characters were also pretty good. Arnold of course stole the show. There were three different versions of Arnold in there! I don't think this movie could have any more Arnold. So if Arnold is what you wanted. Arnold, Arnold, Arnold.
If you wanted less Arnold.
You won't find it here!
Overall I thought this was exactly what this series needed at this point in time. A proper reboot.
