I have a DC-1 DAC and honestly I love its sound. The fact that is has two DAC chips in monaural mode makes a difference. Also, the rotating knob for volume control is great. What I am less excited is its look in my stand. I have a couple of XPA-1Ls along with a tape deck and a CD player and they all have nearly the same width and somewhat similar complexion. DC-1 stands out like a little DIY box or car stereo out of the car. I understand that DC-1 was conceived as a professional unit or as a table headphone amplifier/DAC. What makes me wonder is why we cannot have DC-1 level unit in XDA packaging?

Hi dima...though I doubt it will be the DC-1 judging by their Big and Little Ego DACS, they plan to release a new dekstop DAC.

Hi dima...though I doubt it will be the DC-1 judging by their Big and Little Ego DACS, they plan to release a new dekstop DAC. Yes, but the question is when? Several people have been asking about this for years now. It was originally thought that the Gen 2 would be when the XDA changed over, but instead all it got was basically a new look. Disappointing. Several of us were in agreement that what we basically wanted was an XDA shaped DC-1, minus the headphone amp and volume control, because those items aren't needed in a rack where a pre-amp will probably exist also. (I also want a digital pass through output but that's just me). Dan did answer one day to somebody saying something like "stay tuned, because sometimes dreams come true." (Not an exact quote but it was something like that). And we are still waiting. I'm in no rush really. I'd rather have it be what we want and it be as good as it can be. I haven't been counting exactly, but just how many DAC solutions is Emotiva up to now anyway? XDA-2, DC-1, XMC-1, Egos. Are there more, or are we now at 4 completely different DAC solutions?
