I really want Emo to hit it out of the park. Where are they? What's taking so long? Can we see some prototypes? Do they really exist? Will aliens invade earth before I can purchase them?

I waited patiently for the next version of Reference speakers from Emotiva. Too late now - I have speakers that won't be going anywhere soon.

The Emotiva Speakers are being tested on the Tube Pre-Amp/Amp Combo with the Emotiva Music Server as the source.

I waited patiently for the next version of Reference speakers from Emotiva. Too late now - I have speakers that won't be going anywhere soon. How you liking those Song Towers. The song towers are easily the best speakers I've ever owned. The Emotiva ERT's are a (distant) second. They are the first speaker that do not need a sub to play music. The bass response is amazingly low. I've finally quit checking to see if one or all three subs are on - they aren't connected to the two channel anyhow. Mid range is all there - and there isn't anything in the high range missing either. They are a true full spectrum speaker. On top of all that they have a great looking furniture grade veneer finish. A while back I finally decided it was time time to sell the ERT's I'd had for 6 years and find something else. While the highs and mids were very good the bass always needed help from a sub to reach those real low notes. I read owner's threads on AVS to see what the guys there were excited about - or had bought. The Salk name kept coming up and especially the song towers. I was about one click away from buying some new ones several times over the past year. I always pulled back thinking I might be able to get some used ones. Used song towers are rare but not impossible to get. These popped up on the Lounge Emporium earlier this year - I finally decided if I were ever going to have a pair of these now was the time so I bit. And the rest is history as they say. If you ever get the chance to hear a pair do it! They are well worth the $2k price for new ones. For what I paid for these I almost feel like I stole them!

There is actually a reconditioned pair being sold right now, by Salk. If anyone is interested: www.audiocircle.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=ffceqdbk3rv37ibp39rkth2ag1&topic=136517.0These won't match the rest of my house, so I can't get them - but I would jump on this deal if it wasn't for the color of these speakers.

I do understand why some people might want to wait for a good value speakers from Emotiva. However there are sooooooooo many good values out there that I find silly that people rather wait literally years for speakers when they can be enjoying fabulous spekers now!

It's better to buy speakers from a speaker company anyway. The amount of R&D that goes into Revels for instance, I don't think Emotiva has the facility and resources to match that. But I'll put my Xmc-1 and XPRs vs anything within 2x their price point.

We're assuming that Emotiva is designing the new speaker line. That may not be the case. Maybe Dr. Joseph D'Appolito does the design (or consults). Emotiva does the manufacturing.

I made a visit to Emo headquarters back in May. I spent an hour or so in the theater with Damon going over Dirac. Not sure about the rear speakers, but the center and towers were prototype Emo speakers. The towers sounded pretty damn impressive. They had a lot of bass without subs and the imaging was absolutely fantastic. I was kind of focused on Dirac at the time so I didn't get into questions on the speakers. The towers were black with full black cloth grills so I couldn't see the speaker cones. They weren't that big. Smaller than the ERT's so I would guess 6 1/2" woofers. Big Dan said he was working with Vance Dickason on them. No time frame or price point. So, the Emo speakers are not dead yet! Big Dan still has them in the works.
A little side note, Big Dan is one of the nicest people I've met. He walked out of a staff meeting just to talk with me for a few minutes. He genuinely appreciates his customers.

Great to hear! I would love to have some new options around, and I really was impressed with Emo's old line. More than towers, I would really love some sub news!

Look, given the small debacle that the last sub line ended up being I would imagine that the guys just want to get it right. There's nothing wrong with taking the time to do so. This industry is pretty unforgiving with even near misses, and internet message boards can be hell on earth for those who whiff completely.

i spoke with vance dickason in july when i went to the midwest speaker building event at parts express in dayton, ohio. he said that the designs and release were on track and will be released sometime but he gave no indication of what, where or when since he is not allowed to release info like that. i can't be sure, but it seemed as if (from his rather opaque comments) these will not include the airmotiv tweeters. that is my reading between the lines but i could be totally wrong………

Not to hijack the thread, but where do you learn about such things? I live down the road from Parts Express so I might have been able to go. When was it? What did you all do there? Was it a contest or a learning thing or what? Just curious.

Not to hijack the thread, but where do you learn about such things? I live down the road from Parts Express so I might have been able to go. When was it? What did you all do there? Was it a contest or a learning thing or what? Just curious. once a year, usually 2nd saturday of july, parts express has its annual tent sale and warehouse sale where everything is 20% off. along with that is the 'midwest speaker building competition' where guys will display their wares. this year vance dickason was one of the judges and i asked him during the lunch break if he was involved with the design of the new 'unknown' speakers emotiva is eventually going to release. he told me he was but really couldn't say much more than what i posted before. he does have strong opinions about ported vs sealed but other than that i don't have much else to offer. i go every year since i have been into speaker building now for about 27 years and buy stuff from 'parts express', meniscus audio, and madisound. check out their forum….. lots of interesting stuff. tchaik………….
