The driver from South Yorkshire in England of this Ferrari 430 Scuderia had owned it for one hour before his first accident. He walked away with only a few cuts and bruises. The police report that the car was found roughly 150 feet down an embankment where it caught fire, which is how it ended up in such a sorry state. Based on the post, the road was wet, and the implication is he may have been driving more aggressively than he should have based on road conditions, but not at illegal speeds. The police reported that the driver only suffered a few cuts and bruises, which is remarkable considering the severe damage. And while we're sure the driver is grateful he came out ok, it's probably hard for him to focus on the positive after losing a dream car so soon after picking it up. But with any luck, insurance will cover the car, which has a base price of $260,000, and he'll be in a different Ferrari soon enough. Hopefully he'll be more wary in wet weather with the next one, though.PS: It has yellow brake calipers just like my Alfa Romeo Giulia.

I woke up this morning and tried to access my hard drive that's connected to my router, and no go from my Surface. No go from a PC, just no go. Rebooted router, still nothing despite router working otherwise. I was worried the HD died, but plugged it into the PC and it worked fine. Good!
So, I did what I needed to do with the HD connected to the PC and moved on to something else...retrieving $ someone sent me via Zelle. And that didn't work!
I fixed that and moved on to something else...draining the hot tub. It needs its water changed every few months, so...started draining. It drains to a sanitary crock in my basement, and when it fills, a pump kicks on and pumps the water up and out to my septic system. I went to check the basement as I usually do when I am draining the hot tub...and a line coming out of the sanitary crock and up to the line leading to the septic was leaking and spraying water everywhere!
I found a loose fitting and tightened it, and the leak stopped.
So, I moved back to trying to get the HD to work again. Luckily, remapping the drive seems to have worked. I don't know why the old link stopped working, but it did.
So now - I'm done doing anything constructive for the day. Too many things gone wrong!

I picked-up this 1978 ad (featured in Playboy) on eBay. I thought I'd have it framed and hang it by my rare AR90 poster that was professionally framed (below).

A high performance car with a low performance driver. There are videos galore of ruined super cars. What a waste. More money than brains sometimes.

An update on my Hard Drive that my network stopped viewing...since I had it disconnected from my router and connected to my PC, I thought - might as well back it up USB to USB via the PC. As I did, this one folder that only in actuality had a few hundred megabytes in it said that it had some huge number of petabytes in it! And, another that had a few hundred gigabytes in it said it had a huge number of exabytes in it! LOL! It's a 4 TB drive, so there's no way it could have held those folders!
So, I went ahead and backed up everything, and this AM I re-checked to make sure the backup went well...compared major folders on 1 drive vs. the other to compare storage size, # of files, # of folder, and everything matched. And, the 2 wacky folders now showed the correct total amount stored.
Not sure why that happened, but I am quite glad the HD is OK. But, I think I will switch over to making the new 10 TB drive I bought recently to being the primary drive and use my others as backups. I don't really trust the one that went flaky yesterday!

Just got a mixer and this remote control for the reel to reel. Rare and hard to find and expensive. I had a nice TEAC years ago, great machine! I went on 10 days vacation leave in 1970 from Fort Lewis via adjoining McChord AFB, near Seattle, military standby. Ex wife and I stayed in Tokyo at the Sanno Hotel for under $8 per night, what a great hotel for US military. Pony Electronics store near Yakota Air Base, about 35km from Tokyo was a Japanese discount electronics store frequented by US military. I bought a TEAC deck and a Kenwood monster receiver for unbelievable prices. The TEAC deck was awesome. 65 honest watts per channel in 1970 was a power house receiver. Also bought a nice Pioneer receiver for $129 and sold it for $200 to a soldier at Fort Lewis. He knew what I had paid for it but the price in the US was about $250, so he bought it begrudgingly. Helped pay for my other purchases.

Mark Sounds like the controller on that original drive is suspect. Hard drives make me nervous in that they can let you down in odd ways. Luckily they are cheap and plentiful. I am looking at multiples, and more SSD for scratch or intermediary drives and the HDD more semi permanent. These high density capacity hard drives are extraordinary. 10TB is a good size drive. The area density would be considered science fiction not so long ago. Can a 10PB be far off?

Sometimes it is obvious why something is cheap. I had a cheap mixer just recently and almost a 2db discrepancy?! Not just no. Hell no! My Soundcraft Mixer was and is perfect across the board. Got this Yamaha instead and hoping this is not a problem child like the other cheap one I am embarrassed about getting. It is harder getting something decent on the cheap. I didn't want anything big and expensive. Budget and space are the reason, and channels needed. I don't this eating up my desk.

The area density would be considered science fiction not so long ago. Can a 10PB be far off? Turns out, I've got a router issue. At first it allowed me to mount a different drive to it, but then it keeps kicking it off. So, Asus is recommending a factory reset of the router. No time to do that today (24th anniversary!), so that waits for tomorrow. Mark

24 years ago my wife and I got married. Smartest question I ever asked was "would you like to spend our lives together?" And, yes - the lady in that plum colored dress is my bride. She has a degree in Fashion Design and said "I never wear white, why would I wear it on my wedding day? Besides, it used to be tradition to wear royal colors on the wedding day". So, she designed her own dress starting with taking inspiration from her favorite 20's era ball gown and merging in a top part of her design. Looked stunning - no other like it in the world. Mark (And yes...at one point in my life, I did have hair)

And a better picture of her dress...note the silver glitter Doc Martin boots sticking out the bottom. She's fashionable but comfortable... PS - this is pre-wedding martinis at the Palm Court in Cincinnati. Mark
