I'm sorry, but the term "port plug" just makes me laugh. Too much double-entendre for my 12-year-old mind to take! LOL

I have been using the NHT Classic Threes for a few years now and have not even thought about trying anything else. I'm surprised I don't see them mentioned very often in the Emotiva Lounge because they have fantastic performance for the money. I worry that they are a secret too well kept and maybe I should buy a couple more pair in case the company should cease to exist. They are very neutral and the sealed design makes them integrate well with a subwoofer. They start to roll off at approx. 60hz but as long as you plan on adding a sub I think you should give them an audition. I am very intrigued by the Classic Three, I even had a very interesting email exchange with Chris Byrne. If they were only a tad smaller! Did you ever compare them to the Classic Two or Absolute Zero? I am sure the midrange would be different and the bass extension more limited, but I am going to have a sub anyway.

Most people only have one...have you seen a doctor? Mark I would but he isn't part of the monoblock society so he would not understand!

Well...true, but...I'm not sure how I feel about someone with 6 of "those..." being in or even commenting on anything related to the mono-anything society...kinda creeps me out... Mark

Hello folks, thanks for all the comments, including the funny ones . Always nice to see competent and knowledgeable people not taking themselves too seriously. I haven't been able to look at ALL the many options mentioned, however, of those I have looked into, these have gotten my attention, as they all are ~12" tall or less, sealed or front ported (in no particular order): - NHT SuperOne 2.1 - Ascend HTM-200 SE - Focal Chorus 705 I am intrigued by the Focal tweeter, never had speakers with a metallic one. On the other hand, the SEAS tweeter in the Ascend should be pretty good too. The NHT is the one with the best bass extension, sacrificing a bit of efficiency. It would make integration with the sub a little easier, I suppose. Got to find a way to audition them all. Well, the journey to audio Nirvana is as fun as the destination

Salk sound has a mini monitor for about $1300. Yes, the WOW1, thanks. Spot on in size and porting (front), not so spot on in price, starting at $1,300 . Considering my humble Fusion 8100 and my room size (17x13x8) sensitivity could be a little on the low side too. Great option if looking for quality small bookshelf, though, I have never heard Salk speakers, but I think I have never read anything that wasn't praises about them.

Personally I am a Klipsch kind of guy. I would scoop up a pair of Reference bookshelf speakers with the 5 or 6 inch woofer. They handle power and provide clarity way above their price range. Klipsch IV RB61 Bookshelf maybe?
