No Toslink No USB NO 4K No Sale Edit: i have a Samsung BLU-Ray player that has the ability to download 100s of different apps and its a few years old? Why couldnt a brand new product have this ability? what model is it? and can it utilize the types of apps (including the games demo'd) that the new apple tv can at the same resolution and speed? I'm just curious. I didn't see the model info in your signature; I wanted to look the player up for it's spec's.

Obviously you didn't read the Forbes article nor any of other of the ones I've linked to. So don't come asking for facts and reasoning when all you needed to do was to read it. who are you talking to? or rather who are you tightening up?

Mac Pro to 4K monitor or TV, I think it will drive 2 or 3 of them. So bring your family to your office to watch movies or just buy another Mac Pro for your living room.. Why would anyone want 4K on the Apple TV when can buy a Mac Pro instead. I have one, It can drive 3 4K streams, currently its resting only driving 2 though. My point was that there's an Apple solution to edit and display the 4K content the new iPhone can record. I understand your frustration, I probably would have liked if the new Apple TV had 4K, even though it could be 6 months before I have a UHD TV. I'd probably even pay the extra $50 to $100 that adding 4K might cost, but we've all ready seen that some won't. What if they have another unit in the wings, queued up for the spring event or the developer conference, ATV-4K? Two units for two markets. I'll buy the new ATV for the Apps, and just to see what it can do, but I have one or two of most of their stuff (yeah, the watch just told me to stand up). I think they probably made the right choice for now, but need 4K.

4K on such a small screen makes no sense so. So what's your point? I'm not assuming anything, there are already many millions of 4K owners, typically early adaptors, many of whom most likely were the early adaptors of iPhone and other Apple products. I suggest you read the article from Forbes, you may wake and smell the coffee. I have woken up. You have asked for my reasoning, I've provided it all. Where is your logic and facts? So far all you have is an online article stating that the camera on the iPhone makes the AppleTV out of date. Again, this assumes the person has a 4K TV hooked to the AppleTV. So you argue millions of 4K TV's sold. There are still millions of 1080p plasma TV's in use. a few million 4K TV is NOTHING in the world market. Please look at facts and wake up yourself. AppleTV is missing 4K. It won't impact sales. I'll make a large wager if you wish. Post here for all to see. Let's compare Sales of this AppleTV to the previous generation. If it surpasses, then we agree no 4K hardware was not a deal-breaker. Sales are slow, we agree no 4K was a deal breaker? Deal? BTW, I assume you went crazy when the Wii came out a few years ago and it was only 480p instead of 1080p? And when do we get to argue about this AppleTV not supporting the Atmos or DTS:X codecs. COME ON APPLE. Maybe this thing is out dated. *eye roll* Obviously you didn't read the Forbes article nor any of other of the ones I've linked to, which provide all the facts as well as support my reasoning.

A.though I find ironic they praise 4K here, 5k there, retina everywhere and then after many years of no news on the Apple TV, when they finally release something new, it's not 4K capable. Especially, considering that all the new products from competitors have it or will have it this fall and how much focus there is on 4K from content providers. In fact, I would have expected them to not only have the ATV 4K capable but also to introduce a 4K streaming service. That would have been something to be proud of for Apple, Now they just polished a turd.

That made more sense when it was written, almost over 2 years ago! Some of it still makes sense, especially the need for larger screen size. However, the articles I have linked provide the current state not some 2 years or older view of 4K standpoint.

BTW, many of these advices for screen size vs viewing distance are based on 20/20 vision. If you have better or worse vision, it does not necessarily apply. For instance, when taking an eye test, I can easily read the bottom line. 20/20, better or worse?

Once again apple flexing their muscles that they can charge what they like for a product and people will still flock, I have an ATV3 and it's mainly for my daughter and wife to use for Netflix and while I know the prices of them are comparable to other brands and not sure if I am missing something here but a jump of 50% for the new one seems kind of steep to me, I know if a vehicle jumped 50% from one years model to the next they might lose out on sales, I mean yikes my wage only went up like 1% this year.
