Was soon, then too much going on and thought I'd wait for Christmas, but if I wait that long might as well see what's at CES, then comes the SuperBowl sales ...
I want a little more size (who doesn't?), and better PQ, so why not UHD at this point? The technology in some of these sets is the best it's been for LED so 'plain old HD' will be better too (until there's more content to watch). If you're happy with your current TV I don't see a strong motivation, but if you're ready for something new it makes sense.

I've had a Panasonic 50" 4K tv since over a year (although I use it mainly as a computer screen) and a Samsung 75" for about 9 months.

Nothing to watch, nothing to play it on, too slow to stream, upscaling is fake.
Cheers Gary

Got a Samsung SUHD 65UNJS8500 in July. Have 4K movies on a Samsung UHD hard drive and MGO 4k movies on another WD Passport Vidity hard drive. Can also get 4k off of my Directv, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Will buy first UHD Blu Ray player on the market. Watch it all with Dolby ATmos 7.2.4 sound.

75 and up makes sense, anything smaller at a distance not much better than 1080P, waiting for projectors to come down then will make a screen no smaller than 150".

I'll get one when my Sammy 61" DLP dies. So far it throws up nice blacks which is more than I can say for most 4K displays I have seen. (minus OLED)

Next living room tv will be 4k but not expecting it to be a revolution. Getting the RPTV gone and having a nice flat panel in its place will be a revolution in interior desecrating. Only considering 4k for future proofing. Current tube is a 2005 Sony SXRD and the picture is still amazing.

Waiting on 4K blu-ray. Then will wait a bit longer for player prices to drop and players to improve.

Got the Sammy hd with 10 movies for $49 at BB. Also streaming from Amazon Prime, such as the excellent series Bosch) yields an impressive picture especially of the night time cityscapes.

I have a PN63C590 Samsung Plasma TV that will hold me until I can get a 65" flat OLED for 2500.00 or under. By that time there should be sufficient content available to enjoy it
