The title of the thread says it all , i'd like to see a tube output stage cd player from Emotiva , something styled along the lines of the Dynaco CDV tube cd players ,i wouldnt think it'd be all that hard or expensive to incorporate a tube output on the current line of cd players & the emo.factory wouldnt even have to alter or change the styling of the casing unless they wanted the tiny little preamp tubes to be visable from the face like the Dynaco's & Sunfire tube cdp's .
I know tubes are not on emo's must do list but i sure wish emo corporate would reconsider & a tube cd player would be a sweet & cost effective way to enter the tube gear market .

It no longer looks as Emotiva is interested in this type of product. They now seem to be focused on the home theater market. So sad, they got me with their amazing prices and quality on the 2 channel gear they sold. I now have moved on to used Pass Labs and Audible Illusions. I still have my Erc3 and my USP1 and UPA amp in my basement system. The lack of communication gets more and more frustrating. IMHO

Hmmm, Not so sure I would count out Emotiva on 2 channel audio gear. Just because you may not hear too much doesn't mean the powerful minds at Emotiva aren't coming up with the next very attractive product. It takes time, development, and refinement before we get to see it on our audio/video racks. After all taking their time to get it the way it should be, is the way it should be. Have faith, and patience.

I have a cd player with both solid state and tubed outputs. There is with no question a different sound between the two. Some cd's sound better on one output vs. the other but I cannot say one is better than the other just different.

I had the top of the line Balanced Audio Technology VK-D5SE cd player with balanced tube output, and actually prefer the analog output stage of my Grace m920 dac.
Not sure what Emo could show me that BAT hasn't already........

I had the top of the line Balanced Audio Technology VK-D5SE cd player with balanced tube output, and actually prefer the analog output stage of my Grace m920 dac. Not sure what Emo could show me that BAT hasn't already........ I think were setting the bar unrealistically high comparing BAT cdp's with EMO cdp's , or possible future emo tube gear , the goal i would think is for Emotiva 2 channel products to fit a niche thats currently not filled by a quality manufacturer, if all emo ever adds to their line is an upgrade HT feature there is nothing for brand loyal buyers to buy or roll ,Emotiva dont need to build something like TRL's $60,000 800 watt tube monoblocks to enter the tube market . The niche for affordable tube gear is currently filled with chineese junk gear with unpronouncable names , crap build quality & non existent service depts yet audiophiles are constantly buying that junk because of the low price ,just to roll it in their rig then dump it on ebay, i dont see how Emotiva could loose on a tube output player . Comparing a player from the BAT vk line isnt realistic as Emotivas customer base will never go in for a $6,000 cd player, we've got a Dynaco CDV-PRO tube output player we like alot even though its performance isnt in the same league as our $7,500 Wadia player or our $5,000 Mcintosh MVP player its still a nice little $500 player we can roll different tubes with & have fun on the cheap , we keep an old Cary Audio CAD-5500 for much the same reasons , its a cheap piece we can roll different tubes with & just have fun , Emotiva will never be in direct competition with the likes of BAT,AR,VTL,Mcintosh tube gear .

It takes time, development, and refinement before we get to see it on our audio/video racks. After all taking their time to get it the way it should be, is the way it should be. Have faith, and patience. Unfortunately seasoned 2 channel audiophiles have little patience when it comes to brand loyality & if they want a successful 2 channel customer base that grows, as well as retains its current customer base it needs to release new gear with different features every year, or two at max , if i dont have new products for my customers every few weeks they spend their cash at one of our competitors & i cant have that so we bring in new products as much as possible & our customer base grows yearly , so much growth we've opened our 3rd store while others are dropping like flies . Look at their amp line for instance , if we buy an amp then next year they release the same amp only call it Gen 2 current Gen 1 owners arent gonna rush to buy the new amp , i wouldnt , when a brand stagnates buyers will move on to another brand & thats true , when Mcintosh stagnated then re released the Mc 1201 1,200 watt monoblocks we own 2 pair of labled as the Mc 1.2kw monoblocks my wife & i were like BFD !,same amp , same power , same features , slightly different styling so no real reason to buy more gear from them , thats when we became bored with Mcintosh after 20 yrs & dumped a few grand into Emotiva gear for something new , we were drawn to the emo XPR-1 & 2 because of the stagnation of our brand loyal company , discovered some killer gear & bought 1 of everything totl emotiva . In the time we've been waiting on new 2 channel products & tube gear from emo Mcintosh has released the Mc-301 300 watt tube monoblocks & the price of their Mc2kw 2,000 watt ss monoblocks has came down where we can afford to buy one pair or the other this year , thats gonna be $12,000 to $25,000 that emo coulda had from us ( dealer price not msrp ) with all the Bob Carver partnership going on at that time & the products they spoke of releasing we had planned on spending atleast $10 grand last year with Emotiva just knowing with Bob Carver in the mix prices would be kinda steep but its what we expected , as did others who have since moved on & spent ubber thousands outside of the emo brand . The only new high end gear they've put out is the new HT processor so there isnt anything new for brand loyal customers to buy or upgrade to & even less for 2 channel buyers , for most 2 channel audio hobbyists i know as well as the wife & I alot of the hobby is moving new gear in & out of the systems & trying new things, what we dont keep goes straight to audiogon , when Mcintosh stagnates we move on but we allways spend & so do most other 2 channel nutts . Look at the upgrade card deal they used to do , all the 40% off cards went straight to ebay so all those buyers arent gonna be brand loyal & thats the HT processor group the company is focused on , hopefully they get back up to speed with 2 channel products & get the industry abuzz again with new affordable products , i like emotiva products & being we allready own one of all ther totl gear we will allways be watching for exciting new 2 channel products but we are more patient than most & have a bit more disposable income so we'll wait & see but unless they bake up some new gear before the end of the year we'll most likely spend with Mcintosh getting their 300 watt tube monoblocks .

Oh im not knocking any of the american gear manufacturers & ive tried Rouge & Van Alstine amps yrs back & liked both brands of gear , still those companys are at a price point higher than the majority of Emotiva gear , low cost mid fi tube cd players are the fastest moving product on audiogon so there is definitely a market share to be had . I dont wanna be the forum troll that bashes the company ive bought so many totl products from but i am realistic ,if Emotiva is gonna make serious inroads in the hifi market they are gonna have to have to offer more than just high quality HT processors & budget amps .

Just a thought, cd players of all ilk may be a dying category in the face of high quality streaming (Tidal, Qobuz).
Lots to choose from in the used market.
Agree with your conclusion!

Well thats a possibility i forsee as well but not for several generations of consumers , the ear bud hifi dowload everything group is to young & not enough disposable income to force that hand , when it finally does happen i wont be here to see it . My god has times changed , just 30 yrs ago every household had a hifi or mid level gear , now people think Bose is the bomb & Dr Dre Beats headphones & a cell phone are hifi

I have a Grant CD327A CD player with a tube output. Here, on the last post, are my impressions of the Grant vs the Emotiva ERC-3. Grant CD327A vs Emotiva ERC-3The ERC-3 has all the buffers built in with electronics.
