Seriously, I have no issues with my Harmony remote...it works flawlessly. I'm not sure how the current firmware could cause issues on some boxes and not on others. Furthermore...why would critical codes be altered midstream. Are you using the original XMC-1 Harmony codes, or the new ones I described in the other thread? If you're using the older codes, you wouldn't have any problems, but you'd have fewer capabilities. I think this app is using the IP version of the new codes, which is why there are new problems. Rereading your description, I'm not sure this is the problem, I don't think the iPhone would work and the iPad not if you had the firmware problem. I'm sure we'll learn more about this App, and the new firmware may cleanup some issues. That's possible. I'm using the original codes. I seem to recall mention of a code change long ago on an early firmware. Perhaps there was an option to opt out and I chose to stay with the original to avoid hosing my Harmony One. One point of correction....neither device 'works'. The iPad has a Z2 volume slider that isn't available on the iPhone. That slider is able to make VERY limited, but useless, changes to the XMC. If they have changed codes midstream, I'm assuming there will be a Harmony reprogram in my future. Not the end of the world, but can't imagine what would prompt such a decision by Emotiva. Whatever Edit: I just realized....my Emotiva remote for the XMC works perfectly. Obviously they aren't going to reissue codes that would break the factory remote. Also, the 'optional' firmware I was thinking of was probably on the UMC-1. All firmware updates on the XMC have been monolithic as I recall. I don't know what the problem is, but it's pretty useless on Z2 for me at this point. Ray Update: Firmware V 3.1 has resolved this issue for me. All works as expected now. NICE! R

I don't know what the problem is, but it's pretty useless on Z2 for me at this point. Ray What Emotiva did releasing the new codes was a good thing, it opened up greater possibilities in controlling the XMC-1. The new codes augment the original codes, so if you only use the Emo remote, or the original Harmony entries, then you won't have any problems. But some of us want to directly access more functions - like the tone controls for instance, that aren't on the original remote. So eventually they released the entire command set, this exposed some problems, they didn't change anything, they added more. This App is using some of those new codes, so it's exposing some problems, it will get fixed, probably soon. For now you have your Harmony, hopefully soon, this App too. Here's the thread I started about the new codes, if you can wade through the first two posts you should get the gist of it. XMC-1 and Harmony Remotes - The New Command Set

Okay I've played a bit around with the Android app on my Phone (LG G3) and tablet (Google Nexus 7 2012). it's a very nice app but I've two suggestions for improvement:
1] Only at first use, after installation, the app should go to the tab to select an XMC-1. Thereafter the app should first check if the XMC-1 can be reached on the previous known IP-address and automatically select and retrieve all data of the XMC-1 again. So you don't need to select every time the XMC-1 when you start the program or unlock your device after a period of not using it. 2] Please get rid of the volume slides in the Tablet mode. Just use volume buttons. These sliders are not usable.

There's at least 1 on the lounge that has 2 XMCs. Hopefully Emotiva can optimize the app in upcoming versions. Anything that eliminates extra key presses and enhances the user experience is most desirable.

I have 2 x XMC-1 units but am not able to check the app till later this week as I am overseas right now...looking forward to some good results tho.
Mine are both running FIXED IP addresses and are seen by both Chuck's PC app and Tim's (Java) app on bit PC/MAC - but both apps have issues with 2 units live on the network.

Installed the iPad version last night and it just worked from the start. No issues whatsoever. I don't even know if it's possible but it would be cool if the Menu system were displayed on screen while doing things like setup etc. You can navigate the menu now but you have to view what your doing on the TV or XMC display. Even without that, it's a nice and handy little app.

Hey Nick, Can you give me a hand? Installed the new IOS app on my iPad Air running 9.01. App connects fine and seems to be working correctly, but I DO NOT SEE the Inputs on the main screen other than Tuner, the remainder of the left side of the screen is blank. The strange thing is it appears the commands buttons are there, just not visible. I can touch the blank area under Tuner and it causes the XMC to switch..... Hey, this is why I have always been a good beta tester. Anyway, I have removed the app and downloaded and reinstalled twice, but still no visible inputs on the left side of the main screen. Also, I do see buttons in that area when I switch to TRIMS, ZONE 2 etc, just can't see the INPUT selections. Also, just downloaded the app on my new iPhone 6s, 9.01 and that version of the app seems to be fine. Any ideas Thanks !

Installed the Android version on my Samsung tablet. Other than it taking several attempts to "find" my unit, it seems to be working well. More testing to come.

The IOS app looks really good on an iPhone 6+!
I agree, if you already have an XMC-1 selected, it would be great not to have to tap the power button and it could connect automatically. Also, it would be slick if you made the bottom nav bar black, like the rest of the remote. I think the blue navigation buttons will still stand out enough to be obvious.
Great Job!

When I first ran the App I only had my first 6 inputs listed on the side, by their names (Hopper, Oppo, etc). I went back and named the last 2 and now all 8 display on this side. It could also be cueing off the 'Visible' checkbox in setup, make sure that is checked on all of your used inputs. Finally it's possible that only physical inputs (like HDMI 1) that have been assigned to a 'Button' (1-7) will be displayed on the side. I'd bet one of those three will fix it.

Dirac setup?Hopefully this will help others with network issues as well. On the XMC-1 Menu > Setup > Network It will look something like the pic below, the numbers won't be the same, but should look similar to other devices on your network, the first 3 octets of the IP address should be identical to your smartphone or tablets address. In my example below this would be 10.0.1.x - the x will be different for each network device (my iPad is 10.0.1.65).

I am very glad you posted these numbers, because I just made a rather weird discovery on my own : when connected to my router via ethernet cable, my XMC-1's network system can now pull some numbers that resemble those on other devices on my network, but it can do so only when DHCP is *disabled*, and yet even so, I still cannot get the remote apps to connect to the XMC-1. However, as soon as I re-enable DHCP, the numbers revert to their earlier nondescript/useless formats. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that the XMC-1 is indeed communicating with the router (since it can pull correct AP address/Subnet mask numbers from it with DHCP disabled). Yet pulling numbers from the router with DHCP disabled only shows that there is some inexplicable wedge placed in the path of the connection, or that the network configuring system on my XMC-1 is downright dysfunctional. I have placed a call to EMO Tech support, and they tell me that Keith will call me back. I am still awaiting that call.

I did think of those and the inputs were named as well as buttons assigned. I knew there was an issue when I went back to the App Store and looked at the screen shots of the app. The main screen clearly shows Inputs: Tuner followed by HDMI-1 etc.... So unfortunately that isn't my issue. Hopefully Emo will figure it out. Thanks again.

The early units reported the DHCP checkbox was backward, as you can see mine (which came with FW 3.0) seems to work properly. I assume you're on 3.0? But do remember some talk that older units still had the problem. Anyway, however you get a reasonable address is correct. A utility that allows you to ping the XMC-1 from your phone / tablet would be the next test to ensure communication. There are many, I use Net Analyzer by Techet on my iPad and iPhone to track and monitor all the devices on my network, it can ping too. I've had it a long time and don't remember if it was free.
