You can't send DSD over the USB connection. It must be HDMI and if you have a 103 or 105 it must be HDMI-2. There is a setting in the Oppo setup for SACD playback under Audio Format that you can set for Auto, DSD, or PCM. Just choose DSD and if using an HDMI connection there is nothing else you have to do. Just pop in an SACD and play. Well you can send DSD certainly over USB as I do it on my iPhone to my oppo ha-2 headphone dac/amp, but have yet to see if the xmc will support it, as I'm trying to see if this is an oppo 103/105 issue or exclusively HDMI. Is nobody else using something other than an oppo to send DSD through the xmc? But you can't send DSD over USB to the XMC-1. HDMI is the only way the XMC can accept DSD. The XMC does not support DoP (DSD over PCM) which the HA-2 does.

novisnickGood idea to create a list...are you planning to excerpt all the input from this thread into a concise list to put in your first post? It is looking like this has turned into a random mix of things already, so it is hard to find the issues from the discussion. Also, for many, I see them prefacing their post "when using the Apple app..."... I am wondering if you don't use the app, does the problem persist? Asked another way, is the problem you are having due to the app or 3.1? Mark

The xmc power down also happens on using an oppo remote stepping through track selections with the right arrow key on the remote (oppo backlit bdp105) and a normal power up sequence results with progress bar when pressing the power button.
The xmc was at the time in standby with passthru operating. The resultant power down turned off pass through as I would expect.
Fortunately I have a remote apps for both the oppo and tv

My DSD THUMP, which I had hoped was gone for good with the new 3.1 is now back. But it seems only when I turn on or off the TV and get the poxy HDMI handshake. VERY Disturbing. God Bless, Wayne

Using xmc1 on pass through video to sony tv streaming netflix from oppo 103d. When using either oppo remote or harmony and using the right move button the xmc 1 powers off to low power setting. If you quickly use the right arrow button it does not power off. The button is obviously the same code as xmc1 power button. No real problem if you know what is causing it. It's not that it's the same code...there is a problem in 3.1 with _repeating codes_, which is why when you hit it "quickly", it's fine - the code is likely only sent once. Ray is aware and working on a fix.

FIRMWARE V3.1a HAS BEEN RELEASED (it will be available for download very shortly)
VERSION NOTE: In Firmware Version v3.1, a minor oversight on our part allowed random codes received by the XMC-1 from other (third party) remote controls to more or less randomly cause the XMC-1 to power down. (This was most noticeable when doing a lot of REWing, FFing, and PLAYing with a Tivo or cable box.) In a little while, version 3.1 will be replaced by version 3.1a on the website. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE between v3.1 and v3.1a is that this bug has been fixed.
Therefore....
Anyone who hasn’t updated from v2.0 or v3.0 yet should update to v3.1a . Anyone who has updated to v3.1, and whose XMC-1 is now shutting down at odd times when they use another remote control, should update to v3.1a . Anyone who updated to v3.1 and isn’t having any problems DOES NOT NEED TO UPDATE TO v3.1a (there are no other changes). Also note that, after the update, the firmware version will still show as "Firmware Version 3.1 15/10/12" in the Information screen. However, after the update, the front panel code version (on the next line) will show as "FP Version 1.4 15/10/20" - which is different.

What took so long? It's been, what...38 hours? And, by the way - where's that toaster???
Mark (not in hurry...more worried about my new sub setup than a FW update...but glad to hear this is solved.)

Really? I was actually thinking the complete opposite. I will never us a wifi app, or network connection and I never listen to SACD. Also, my TV doesn't have issues with inputs. I would argue that most of these issues are incredibly minor and very localized. (Ok, maybe not minor to the respective user, but relative to my use). I bet there are products you own that have far more intensive issues, but the respective manufacturer doesn't give you a moderated sounding board for every little issue that occurs. At $2k, how can you go wrong? I just purchased one. If it's 1/2 as good as they are suggesting it is, I will be ecstatic. If I was a betting man, I would guess that the XMR-1 is a year or two off and will cost several times what the XMC costs. To get 16 channels, DIRAC, HDMI 2.2, ATMOS and other codecs, with the apparent sound quality of the XMC-1. So hold onto your card and just get this on the cheap. The price now is usd 2499 for xmc-1 I play sacd and wants a prepro that does full bal on at least 5.1 ch Waiting for xmr-1 but not as enthusiastic as before Xmc-1 cannot decode 5.1 24/192 if I am not mistaken, hoping xmr-1 can address this Even at the indicated price of 5k for xmr-1 it is still usd3000 with the 40% discount card - this is not small change At 3k it should reasonably be bugs free Not sure if xmr-1 can make it by 2017 Thanks
