Thanks Geebo, drat it, I have done that several times, must have gotten lost in all the updates and factory resets and such. Will set it up again and see if it sticks. Thanks, God Bless, Wayne Don't recall any issues with getting surround modes to stick, but I don't generally use 'Auto' much. As for Speaker Presets, I actually found with mine, when I ran Dirac, it changed the default Speaker Preset to 'Dirac' for EVERY SINGLE INPUT...which was a real pain in the a$$, mainly because I've not yet gotten a good Dirac run (last time, I didn't realize that one or more of the cats had somehow mananged to knock the power cord out of the back of my one working sub...really got to get around to getting my main sub fixed, and/or replacing it...that and training the cats better...

To be clear, the reason I had to remove power I think is because I have it set to send video out in standby (mainly so my home automation server can maintain an open port connection to control the unit over the network). Same issues with the automation software turned off?

I've only had the unit for less than a week (bought a two month old used unit from a guy who was moving). I updated it to 3.1a the first day. Twice (in the last week) I've opened dirac just to go to the measurements I previously made. One time Dirac froze on my Windows 10 PC, and the XMC-1 still showed Dirac Connected. I had to remove power from the XMC-1 for a minute then plug it back in (restarting Dirac after closing it with Task Manager, but it would not connect). The other time, I was just looking at measurements in Dirac and then closed it. Went to play some multichannel PCM and the XMC-1 would make thumps when volume went up/down or when I paused Foobar2000 (was using WASAPI under Windows 7). The thumps were coming from my subs. Again, I had to pull the plug out and plug it back in. To be clear, the reason I had to remove power I think is because I have it set to send video out in standby (mainly so my home automation server can maintain an open port connection to control the unit over the network). Do you have jRiver Media Center on that computer? There is a software conflict with jRiver's ASIO driver Windows 10, and Dirac that causes Dirac crashes on some computers.

More audio than video here but do you think it's the norm for everyone to be having these program setup issues?

Same issues with the automation software turned off? I don't know. Once I wrote the two-way control module for my home automation system, it is the only way I control the unit. Outside of the those two times, there are no other issues.
Next time it does it, I'll try using IR and see if it thumps then...

New XMC-1 owner here. Not sure if this is new or pre existing, or if someone knows a solution... But input labels are not centered on the OLED display. It appears that trailing spaces or blanks are not trimmed. It's a minor issue, but an annoying one.
For example, renaming "HDMI 4" to "Xbox" is actually saved as "Xbox " with 2 extra trailing spaces I don't want from changing the "4" to a blank character. This throws off the centering on the display. I cannot find any way to remove these trailing spaces.

Put your own spaces in before the "Xbox"!
"__Xbox__"

maybe save the config to internal and then to USB so you have 2 copies then edit the USB one to remove the spaces etc that you want then reload the edited version.
I don't recall if mine are centred or not - most of the ones I have not edited are set to not visible.

And I thought my OCD about the color difference between the display and buttons was bad...

I have no problem with the colors not matching but the text thing not being centered does bother me a bit. Not enough for me to do anything about it though. I did think about adding spaces to move the text over but never bothered. Now that I leave the display showing what audio stream it's decoding I don't have that issue anymore.

Put your own spaces in before the "Xbox"! "__Xbox__" This is what I do as well. Just remember that there are 10 place holders so use the blank spaces accordingly.
