Hey all, been off the boards lately to avoid my endless gear lust, however I received the sale e-mail from Emotiva and decided to take a look at the pricing. I was blown away at how great the deals are!!! Anyway, my personal life has been a series of low points for the past 6 months or so, but I am working to make it all good again. All prayers are welcome my friends.  Enough with my personal life and reasons for being MIA for a while now, and on to the point of this thread. Over the past couple years I have had to sell off a lot of my gear due to various circumstances. However, I must admit that of all the stuff I have sold off, I miss my DC-1 the most. IMO that little DAC sounds great, it's fully balanced, has a built in headphone amp (my only way of listening at the moment), and has more functionality than you can shake a stick at! What does all this mean? Well the sale price has me wanting to get another DC-1 to replace the one I miss so dearly. However, buying at this very moment is probably not the best decision I can make (my car needs new tires soon), so I was wondering if there has been any word on how long the sale will last? Anybody know, as I do not want to miss this, if at all possible. Alternately, if anyone has a used one laying around they would part with at a good price, I would be open to that as well, if it could save me some bucks... Thanks, -Dave |

I used to have a lust other than for gear, but I'm too old for that now. Stick around! LOL! Hi PK!!! Good to hear from you my friend!! I don't know if you remember this but i heard the DC-1 for a few short weeks thanks to our resident B'zilla. And then I immediately had such severe withdrawals that the forum brought my a new one to put me out of my misery!! So I FEEL your pain!! The DC-1 at its best feels very natural and quite intoxicating. Especially when it gets in to its groove. Now the DC-1 is being sold used for really nice prices. So maybe you can get the DC-1 at those prices instead? I personally think you should just go for it. Your life and safety on the road definitely come second.  (But seriously) |

Believe it or not, I need to buy new tires not because the ones I have are worn out, it's because they aren't rated for temps lower than 42 degrees or something like that. I used to have an old Ford focus that I had for YEARS, it was getting long in the tooth and I had been eyeballing the 2015 Ford fiets ST series six speeds. Yeah, I know...fiesta, but the ST series has a "turbo" engine in it, so it's "cool". The car is essentially the American version of a "tuner car". Perhaps it was watching too many Fast & Furious movies, but I ended up with one. I went to the dealership just to LOOK at them. They had one there with the molten orange paint, molten orange/leather Recaro "racing steats", moonroof, touch screen navigation, etc...I mean literally every option available on that model. Next thing I know, they were offering to pay off my old car, free oil changes for life, and giving me 1.9% interest for 72 months...I signed the dotted line.  I LOVE the car, but the stock tires on it are considered (by who, I don't know) to be high performance, and are not rated to be driven on in cold weather. Hence, why I need new tires...impulse buy, bad decision probably, but it is what it is. pk, so glad you found your way back! So happy to see you! Thanks Nick! As much as my love of the DC-1 is especially with the sp-1 pairing, I am looking for a dac that does DSD and I'm going down the Oppo HA-1 route.

I get some grief from the guys at work (I work at a factory in a rural town) because they're all pickup driving Chevy fans, but I've had a few guys comment on it, especially when I first started there. It's a fun ride when I got my girlfriend with me, the windows down & moon roof open with the music blasting! |

PK I have to say your one of the those-guys-whose posts comments, sarcasm, opinions. I really enjoy reading. I still remember your comment ( sarcasm) in the 15 mid level dac shootout! I say those tires will be fine. That car is front wheel drive with Summer tires. Take it easy for one winter. You will be ok....... I hope its not a bad winter!!!!!
