Saw Spectre Sunday night at an IMAX theater. The scene right near the end where the MI-6 HQ bldg that was bombed in the previous movie is brought down with demolition charges have so much low bass energy when the bldg collapses your whole body is reverberating with the sound waves from the subwoofers. You feel like you're getting tossed around in your seat. IMAX bass is no slouch!
I don't think even 4 Seaton Sound Terraform subs could hold a candle to the full IMAX subwoofer experience. And the theater had the volume cranked up pretty good.

I only watch movies at the theater when it's something I can't replicate in my own setup... e.g. IMAX, Atmos. etc. Definitely going to watch this one because I watch all Bond movies...

Plenty of good bass and sound in general ... as well as fast cars, pretty girls, great villains, and majestic scenery, oh and Bond ... you know. I did love the soundtrack, the Sam Smith not so much, but the music and especially the rhythms, I found myself foot drumming, had to catch myself before the people in front turned around.

I'm a 007 fan as well and will be going to see it in the IMAX theater this weekend.

Likewise looking forward to seeing SPECTRE...Bond fan here and I never thought Daniel Craig would make it...boy was I wrong. Hope it is not true but I DID read where Craig might call it quits after SPECTRE.

Could not really watch Bond at all prior to Daniel Craig. Had zero interest in it. He is for me clearly the best Bond

Sam Smith did stick out like a sore thumb, I wasn't neutral on his song, I actually disliked it. The rest of the movie was a blast!

Well, we went to see Spectre last night (in iMax)...
The theater was LOUD. I don't mean loud on the explosions (although there was that) but even dialogue would make your ears ring. My wife was smart enough to bring her own earplugs. I had to make do with some wadded-up napkins. But my ears still rang after the show. it's criminal to subject audiences to SPLs that cause hearing damage without warning in advance.
The plot was conspicuous mostly in its absence. Some Bond movies wear their lack of plot with a sense of humor, but this one...
Yes, there were fine gadgets. Yes, there was eye-candy. Yes, there was the theme music. But overall, I was disappointed. YMMV

It actually sounded like all of the channels were properly leveled. I do agree with the OP, the LFE's were quite stunning in the opening scenes and then with the demolition of the old MI-6 building.

Saw this last night in a regular digital theater. Sound wise my system at home beats the regular theater hands down.
I really liked the movie but didn't love it.
Ranking the 4 Daniel Craig movies......IMO
#1 by a large margin "Casino Royale" . . . . . . . . .
#2. "Sky Fall" #3. "Spectre" . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #4 dead last horrible movie "Quantum Of Solace"
