Hello I am new here and looking for some feedback. I have Polk RTIA9's, CSIA6 center, FXIA6 surrounds and a SVS PB12 plus sub. After reading, I think I am going to run XPA2 for the two fronts, a XPA3 for the center and surround.. There are so many receiver options, I am confused. Its mainly for movies and music, It has to have a Ipod and be a good match for my combo. I do not need anything you need to take nite classes to operate. I appreciate it fellas.

Why not just make it simple and get an XPA-5? It's a great amp.

Hi 03sonic0, welcome to the lounge.
Running your RTIA9's with an XPA-2 for stereo listening is an awesome idea. And I love my XPA-3 too.
What's your time frame on a receiver/processor. If you willing to wait several months (several). Then Emotiva is working on a new "entry" level processor that would fit your bill. If not, then lots of us like the Yamaha Adventage line. You can buy a smaller one because you'll have external amplification. Others in the group will have other recommendation. Stand-by...

There are many options and you can find them cheaper factory refurbished. Since power output is not a critical factor for you, the choice comes down to other features. Check them out here: >>linky<<.

emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/44556/fs-rx-a3020-yamaha This is a great AVR if your not looking at Atmos! Also, for external power you should go with the XPA-5 if your ngoing with MONOBLOCKS. Dont waist your time , effort and money on a XPA-2 and an XPA-3. The XPA-5 will fill the roll of those two amps Or, just do MONOBLOCKS and let the Yamaha run all the other channels.

It is a good deal, I believe new it was almost three times as much. However, I think you would be paying for power you will never use :-)
IMHO you would be better off with a newer model, like the x008 or x009. You would get more or newer features, which you may find useful.

Why not just make it simple and get an XPA-5? It's a great amp. I was told the XPA 2 would drive the fronts better (more power) and a XPA 3 for the center and surrounds.

You won't notice a difference from the xpa2 to 3 to 5. They all sound exactly the same. And the 100 watt difference equates to 1db of headroom. I thought I saw a fusion 8100 for sale here the other day, wouldn't that be a good choice for receiver?

Hold on. Why are you bothering to get a reciever? The UMC-200 is a great solution. The UMC-200 is a standalone processor (no amps). Usually that gets you pretty good audio quality. Get that with an XPA-2 and 3. Or an XPA-5 and you are good to go

If connecting to iPod/Pad/Phone via Bluetooth is acceptable to the OP, a used Fusion 8100 is certainly an option worth considering. It has a complete set of pre outs, it can decode all the latest formats but Atmos, it has a slim form factor and it is straightforward to operate. Not to mention that its power stages best AVRs twice the price, although in this case it is not a factor. I have one and very happy with it. My daughter uses BT with her iPhone all the time and it works flawlessly.

I think he needed an iPod dock integrated with. Possibly with graphic support I suspect. I like what Yamaha has been doing in the receiver world lately. There might be a good one there worth considering. Pioneer Elite and Onkyo, and Marantz do a good job too. You also of course could come out analog out of the iPod too if the interface graphic display is not that important, then a the UMC-200 could make a good choice too. I like the combo of XPA-2, and XPA-3. Though the XPA-5 maybe better value unless you need the reserves of 2 power supplies of which I am never against.

That helps one amp makes it simplified as long as the 100 watts wont be noticeable. I want it to rumble lol

The UMC-200 has been discontinued. That's why the recommendation was for a used one.
If you don't listen to two channel a lot, an XPA-5 would be fantastic. But for two channel listening, you can't beat an XPA-2! (Except with an XPR or a monoblock).

stores.ebay.com/jadedesign/Keep an eye on the Emotiva Ebay store as well. They had like five factory refreshed UMC-200's listed over the weekend at a reduced rate. Warranty too! You can't go wrong with a XPA-5. I just bought my second one Friday from the Ebay store. There is plenty of power to fill any listening/viewing area. Even though I upgraded from an XPA-2 to a pair of XPA-1's a month or so ago there is not much difference in quality of sound, just a little more headroom and it doesn't seem to push the amp as much.

I would suggest the XPA5. And if you want more power & a 7 ch system in the future get a pair of monos or Emotiva 2 ch amp
