You guys think this would sound better than the DACs in the XMC-1? I tend to doubt it. It would certainly sound different. Better would of course be up to you.  I can tell you that there is no comparison between the enjoyment I get listening to my Ygdrassil VS the sound of the DACs in my Marantz pre/pro, and it sounds much better to me than my other four DACs I compared it to (Wavelength Brick and Crimson, Ayre QB9 and Kora Hermes II. In fact I have now sold all but the QB9.) |

Further, even my (now four years old) Eastern Electric MiniMax DAC Plus sounded better to me than the Ayre QB-9, whereas my (now one year old) Eastern Electric MiniMax DAC Supreme sounded better to me than Yggy, albeit only by a narrow margin. Considering the price gap between Yggy and my DAC Supreme, I really had expected more from Yggy. Lord knows, a good whiff of harmonic spray to go with the "bit perfectness" and stuff would have cured that problem for me.  |
