The DC-1 will not accept Digital Bitstream so you will need to use Digital PCM stereo from your SC-55 Pioneer or Samsung bluray player. It has One Analog input and you can add Two more for a total of Three and a Phono pre amp with the matching SP-1.

After looking thru the PDF Manual for your pioneer SC-55 I see it has Analog L/R outputs and One Digital Optical Out. If all possible integrating the DC-1 into your system thru you Pre-Pro is the way to go. The way I integrate my DC-1 is to use the Analog L/R outputs from my Xfinity TV box and Digital Coax output from my OPPO 103 Bluray player. My receiver has neither Analog or Digital out. There is a Digital Optical Out on my Xfinity TV box but I can not find a way to convert to PCM output in the Menu so I use the Analog L/R outputs into the analog inputs on my DC-1. I go out Digital Coax from my OPPO 103 Bluray player into the DC-1. I have to go into speaker setup and select Stereo Down-mix before it works with the DC-1.
I have a separate Video Monitor for my PC Desktop and I split the HDMI output for both TV box and Bluray player with a MonoPrice 2x2 Matrix HDMI Switch & Splitter. The Audio as previously described goes to the DC-1 that I also use as a USB sound card DAC for my PC speakers. I can watch TV or a Movie from my Home theater system components at my PC and also on my Home theater system's big plasma. It is not as friendly setup as I wish but cool.
I have my fingers crossed that the new Emotiva Emersa EMP-1 has Optical and Coax Digital output that can convert Bitstream to PCM and Down-mix to stereo. If you have all your components connected HDMI to your Receiver/Pre-pro and can use one Digital PCM audio output for everything it sure would make life easier. I have noticed Emotiva's Designs have Digital out on a lot of there gear. When I look at even current Receivers most do not have Digital outs.
Hope this helps. This is how I integrate my DC-1 into my system.
