All this talk of 3d. Just imagine a virtual reality 3 dimensional movie where you can walk around inside the movie and watch it from any angle you want. How about having your own virtual lightsaber and joining in. Imagination is a wonderful thing. Just imagine how much more annoying that would be with people not only talking and getting up to block you and being on their cell phones, but also pointing light sabres at you. Yup, looks like I am going to have to get my own Emotiva virtual reality movie system for my home. Oh well.

Going Saturday at 815. Imax 3d, I could also do without the 3d but it's gotta have good sound or I refuse to waste my money.
My mother is a little unhappy I chose to go to star wars over her birthday. But I'll see her tomorrow evening anyway..

For those that see it early I'd like to know if it is appropriate for a 5 and or 7 year old. Because of the marketing my kids are all over me to see this movie.
I am hesitant because well it's rated PG-13 and I think that it may be too adult for them. I read one review that says not for little kids, just seeing if others agree with this.
My 7 year old was grossed out and didn't make it through empire strikes back on Blue Ray. He is actually quite a gentle soul.

"Mesa sure it's just a rumor, though."

It opened here last night. Or this morning at 12:01am Here being Australia My daughter and her boyfriend (he's a Star Wars addict) watched it last night, 12.45 am. Was supposed to be at Bondi but the storm drowned that theatre so they went to George St and caught it in 3D. No story lines hints but they both said it was awesome. Cheers Gary

Probably early next week, at an Atmos theater. IMAX for me, please. Oddly enough at the SLC theater that has Atmos, they also have IMAX and Digital 3D, but not together. So you can't have Atmos and 3D, which doesn't seem right to me.

The sensory overload could be dangerous!

Even the best ( Avatar?) make me sick. But I'd give IMAX and Atmos together a whirl. I might even drive to Denver if I have to for this. I'll look into it...

By the way, does anyone know how I could find out if my theater has Atmos? when I go to a commercial theater, I usually go to cinemark. They seem to be the best in Colorado Springs, but I do not know if they are Atmos equiped... Here's a link to find theaters equipped with various Dolby technologies, including Atmos. www.dolby.com/us/en/find-a-movie-theatre.html

The sensory overload could be dangerous! Possibly, just seems that 3D picture and sound should go together, and yeah, let's make it big too! Overload me!

I live in north Atlanta which is one of the most prosperous places in the country. There is more new movie theaters than you can shake a stick at around here. The only thing I get sound wise is it is very loud. I go to the theater because of the big picture screen you get lost in. I bought my receiver for $100 and five speakers for $250 at a circuit city going out of business / close out sale and the sound in my living room is whole lot better. Oh explosions and stuff like that have more impact at the theater but I have my recliner right in the sweet spot of those five speakers and would not trade what I hear in a theater for it.
Am I missing something here ?

There is a 83 year old lady living below me right now and that would not be very nice.

Whatever you say... I know that Cobb County during Gingrich's time as speaker received more federal money than any other county in the US. They are the home of Lockheed-Martin.

The Force Awakens was not photographed in 3D but post processed which, I think, always looks bad and should end as a practice. Just seems like a money grab. Movies like Avarar, Hugo, The Martian were actually captured by 3D cameras. realorfake3d.comExactly. It's a bummer there aren't more IMAX 2D showings. Saw the Hunger games the other week and it was awesome in 2D. I saw Avatar in 3D Imax and didn't care for the picture. I wonder if what I saw was 70mm or not. The movie I liked the 3D effect the best in was Megamind on my Brothers LG tv. I'll be taking my nephew over the holiday break to a theater nearby that has a regular screen but very good sound.

Probably early next week, at an Atmos theater. I'll be in Central Florida for Christmas weekend, so I'll be looking for an Atmos theater in the Orlando area.
