Saw it at a regular theater last Sunday and going to 3D tonight. Agree that the sound was very disappointing!! Center channel with voices was almost tinny and non existent at our theater. Was just there for the latest Bond movie and the sound was great so its the film, not the theater.
Movie was fun, not many surprises, not fantastic but OK. Lots of questions about why they did what they did or didn't do what they didn't do. Could tell that Lucas wasn't involved like before.

A Jedi knight can't win a light sabre battle with two people who have never picked one up.... Just saying.... Yes, and Rey mastered the Force faster than Luke. It took Luke 2 movies and a few weeks with Yoda to get a grip on the Force...and even then, he was not ready to take on Vader. ( Did anyone catch the reference to Darth's wife, Ella? Think about it... on your way up.)

A day with bad sci-fi is better than a day with no sci-fi.

I saw it last night in a mostly full theater. I enjoyed it but would not consider it a great movie. It'll be added to my collection at some point though.
The Regal RXP cinema was ok. Sound was very good and thankfully not too loud (no Atmos out here in the sticks). Mid bass was a bit thick and the level was too high but the LFE rumbles and bangs were just about right. It convinced me that I need a new subwoofer amp.
Video projection sucked. Rope lights from the aisles were reflecting off the screen. Dark scenes were washed out by ambient light and the projector contrast was mediocre. The screen was not masked at the top or bottom either.

Ok I haven't seen the new movie yet but I bought the first "original 3" on Blu-ray Sunday...the picture was ok and up scaled ok but the remix of the audio was terrible...seems like the engineers just pulled out a few foley effects and sent them left, right and rears! Any way I will say this...I wish like hell I didn't give away, throw away, toss like they were flying, burn with a homemade hairspray flamethrower, blow-up with fire crackers, attach to bottle rockets, shoot with a BB gun all those damn STAR WARS TOYS THAT I HAD WHEN I WAS A KID! If I had all of them that I had from the late 70's I probably could have sold them and paid to have a private screening of the latest installment at Skywalker Ranch with George Lucas and JJ Abrams feeding me popcorn!

I am looking forward to seeing it still, but my wife is sick. So, I will wait until she is ready to go. She is a sci-fi nut and loves Star Wars.

I'll just jump in to say I loved it. My wife and I have seen it 3 times already and she wants to go see it again soon! For me, it is for right up there behind New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Also have to say it is some of the best 3D I have seen ever.

Not too many women like sci-fi, audio, Monty Python, etc. Yes indeed...mine loves sci-fi, action movies/shows, horror movies, Month Python, and even The Young Ones! And, she is even into good music from all eras and hates the bubble gum pop stuff so many adhere to. She even chose the music for the garter event at our wedding..."Take a Walk on the Wild Side", by Lou Reed. She loved the irony for a garter song! That was one of 3 songs from after 1965 at our wedding...others were Bowie's Heroes and U2's "until the end of the world". You should have seen her and the bridesmaids dancing to "Everybody want to be a cat" from the Aristocrats. We forbade the DJ to play anything off our set list...and we had to provide him all the music because he had <10% of our choices! Mark

I thought it was very good and most of the complaints about plot or character development were understandable but they were done on purpose. I think you are either intrigued or annoyed by it. I felt it was a great start to a new trilogy!

I felt it was a great start to a new trilogy! Without giving anything away here: there are so many people that want to know absolutely everything upfront instead of being patient and waiting for things to properly unfold. It's fun to speculate about certain story elements and characters...I'm still having daily conversations about the movie and what can come next. In my eyes, that shows a movie did it's job. That vagueness works really well staring off this new trilogy.
