The other thread could have used a poll, so here it is.
Please rank the movie over all on a score of 0 - 10, zero being horribly bad and ten being one of the best of movies of all time.
I will let you decide if you round up or down. For example, I am now considering it a 6.5, but will round up to 7 to be nice. If you prefer to round down that's perfectly okay.
Thank you for participating.

Who gave it a one?!? You know that doesn't mean number one movie right?!

Went and saw it for a second time the other night. I give it a 9. Liked it much much more the second go around. No soap opera effect at this theater, made it much more believable.
I still have my qualms with Kylo Rens casting, but other than that I have to say it's making its way into my heart.

What came through to me was how the JJ Abrams team treated the material. I got the idea from their Star Trek movies that they really loved the fans and wanted to make the fans happy. George Lucas strikes me as someone who loves film and found the fans a pain. That showed in the last two SW films he made in terms of horrible casting and the worst character in the franchise. Did anyone else feel that way? If the second movie is as kind to the fans as this one was, I bet they retire that 4.2 billion they paid for the rights by 2018.

Trey Hey just the fact that there was no Jar Jar Binks made this movie way better than the 2nd trilogy... and also no cutesy poo ewok-type characters running around made it good, too. This movie was "kind to the fans" as you said.

You went from a 6 to a 9 after just one more viewing? emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/783572/threadThat's a mighty big jump. Reminds me of boomzilla when it comes to speakers. One day one thing and the next day another. Sounds like the presentation itself made all the difference for you. You would not have liked when my parents took me out of school when I was 10 and I saw the first showing on the first day for Empire Strikes Back. The theater they had the movie set up in had a projector fail. So we had to watch the entire movie 20 minutes at a time (1 roll), with about a 10 minute break in-between each roll (to rewind the previous roll and put the new roll on). Made quite the impression on me.

I gave it an 8. I wanted the Dark side to be more evil.

If I equate what you are saying to music, then yeah, this was a movie made by a POP music producer vs a movie told by an artist trying to tell his own emotional story. I'll take the latter in music every single time. Movies not as much, but many of the same criteria hold true for me. I know Star Wars is POP, but that is a discussion for a thread all it's own. You mean 3 movies. And yes many people do. I'm not one of them. All other things aside, this movie is my least favorite Star Wars movie because it basically tells the least interesting story of them all with non-compelling characters doing it. A "not so good story" is a "not so good story" no matter how well it's actually made. They are changing directors for each movie. www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/star-wars-8-is-going-to-be-weird-promises-screenwriter-a6788031.htmlm.imdb.com/title/tt2527336/

2 for me.
Script was poor - crappy character development Pacing was poor - the movie seemed very rushed at the end (Uh oh - we're out of time, let's wrap this up!) Continuity was poor Editing was poor Audio quality in the Cinemark "Big D" theater was poor. I wish I saw the 2d version. The 3d seemed to be an afterthought.

I normally don't put much faith in reviews, but I found myself reading this one wondering if I had written it and forgotten that I had done so. If I had written a review I think I would have said this almost verbatim... What went wrong with the Force Awakens

Agree with the goose, especially on his last 2 points: Audio at our theatre was no more than a 6 on both 2D & 3D. 3D was pitiful. I'm no expert but there just wasn't any!!

If you read my long post on the other thread, you will see my comments mostly mimic yours. Only 2 places I'd say I might disagree is Editing and 3D. For Editing, please explain / elaborate what you mean. Perhaps my 2 things I mention that I would change come into play here? I am not a fan of 3D, period. Regular 3D totally sucks for me. I see nothing but cardboard cut outs. IMAX 3D is much better but it still has issues. It usually involves scenes filmed only for 3D, and they turn out overly done or stupid. I also have an issue with my right eye always watering up do to the 3D or the glasses I'm not sure. I have to clear my eyes many times throughout a movie. I'm also not a fan of 2D movies converted to 3D for the opposite reasons; why do it as you say, and after thought. But this one was a nice mix of the 2, and I think it pulled off 3D quite well. Much better than others I've seen. I did find a few scenes distracting though, like the Star Destroyer hanging out in the theater. What I would really like to see is true IMAX 2D, but it's only in 18 theaters in the the U.S. I'd have to drive 2-1/2 hours to Indy to see it and this movie just does not warrant that.

I gave it a 7. It's okay and it kept me entertained but it didn't wow me.

I gave an 8, it wasn't perfect but it was a heck of a great Sci-fi film with a great story. The first 1,2,3 were plain garbage compare to this one.
