Going in months ago I had high hopes so that obviously affects things. I sought out a fully-fleshed A/V theater - don't remember all the details, but it was 3D, digital this and that, Atmos. The theater worked great, sound and picture. I had wanted to see it again in another theater, maybe even IMAX to see how I reacted the second time, but we never made it. At this point I guess I will wait for the 4K Blu-ray ;-)
I "enjoyed" the movie, but I remember feeling "uncomfortable" through quite a bit of it (no it wasn't the seats, they were also excellent ;-)) It was partially that deja vu aspect (and deja vu again, and again), and partially I felt many of the cuts (from one scene to another) didn't feel right - so, I guess I didn't like the editing so much. All of these things just sat there niggling my brain battling against the fun blow-uppies and the engaging new characters (Well, not Kylo so much), and the occasional OMG moments (dispatch of Han Solo). So after it all I was just "uncomfortable", trying to smile but not quite making it.

I cannot rate it since I was finding it hard to stay awake at the theater and it was not b/c of a poor sound system. It seemed more like a kids movie...still...it has not matured. You thought it was for grownups? Not a STAR WARS fan. IMO it was a boring movie but I do understand people's loyalty to the saga

So, as of May 9th, the average score is 6.776786. I guess that makes me very average. I said 6.5 but gave it a 7.0 for this poll just to be nice.

Imagine if we rated it an 8! It's still a 6.7, almost EXACTLY what I said it was in the beginning, and don't you forget it! At least my wife listens to me.

And I'm sure the shareholders would just love a string of 6.7s like that one... I think you have to look at the voting population. If you have a movie that critics rate highly then most likely it is some exercise in academic eggheadiness that most people will fall asleep watching. Same thing when you ask audiophiles to rate something.

I don't know about y'all but that's the best 6.7 movie I've ever seen! Hopefully the next one will be like a 7 or something.

I think the new owners of the franchise were so paranoid about getting their investment back that they stifled the director a bit. Maybe the second one will be better than the first like empire strikes back.
