I received my DAC Stealth DC-1 early November 2015 from Emotive and I love the product since. However started yesterday the DAC cannot play in cold morning without a 15 minutes WARM UP. Tried today in the morning and it did it again, and this time it took even longer before it plays. I have emailed Emotive Customer Service and Support to find out what is wrong with my unit, hope I will hear from them with solution soon. I can turn on the DAC without any problem, it just cannot play (no signal going through the DAC to my airmotive5s speakers, or to the headphones even with headphone cable plugged directly into the Headphone Out on the DAC). Does any Stealth DC-1 owner experienced the same issue as I am having? Any suggestion or help will be greatly appreciated.

DC-1 is a really good DAC, comparable to that of the XMC-1 IMHO, Hope they fix you up fast so you can enjoy all the goodness it has to offer!! Wait!,,,,,,Wait!,,,,,,Wait!,,,,,, Did I just sound like an Emo Fanboy?,,,,,,,,,he,,,,,,,he,,,,,,,,,,he,,,,,,,,,,,

You have an issue with your DAC that we cannot fix. It likely has to be sent in for service Call them instead.

I called them but I was told to keep the DAC on if this makes it work. I have hard time to believe this is the solution, they took my phone number and said their Tech will call me, will see. Thanks.

Did you check to make sure the source is supplying a signal to the DC-1? Also, just curious but how cold is your house?

Oh no. IMO that's just asking for eventual failure.

My source is iMac. I found no issue with the source, besides I could play music with my other DAC hooking up to the same source. With that said I really believe my DC-1 has problem. Thank you.

Forgot to mention the indoor temperature is F/55 (before the heater clicks on).

Sounds like the problem is with the DC-1. I don't think there is any harm in keeping it on all the time (I keep my Bifrost on all the time) but definitely it should not require such warm up time to start working. There's something the matter with it.

Forgot to mention the indoor temperature is F/55 (before the heater clicks on). I have never heard of anyone having this problem, but I also have never heard of anyone having their gear at 55 farenheit before turning it on. Personally at this temp, I would be a bit worried about humidity condensing on internal parts and causing issues. At this temp on a rainy day in Cincinnati, anything made of metal feels damp to the touch even if not directly exposed to the rain. As you talk with Emotiva, be sure to discuss this low temperature in the room. Mark

Mark For awhile we tried keeping the shop at 55 degrees during evening hours but then we got considerable condensation in the mornings when the heat came on. With the off hour temp it to 60 it didn't happen. So the danger that Mark is talking about is very real.

Update: Just got call from Emotiva, like others said the issue I have with my Stealth D -1 is unheard of. I have been keeping the Main Power Switch on but turn the unit off with the front dial (or turn it off with the remote) when done listening to it so the DAC is warm at all time. By doing this the problem never happened again. I told their Tech guy that I am not sending it back now since Emotiva warranty is for 5 years but I will if this problem gets worst or other issue found.

What volts is your power supply? 120V or 220V? Either way it needs repair

What volts is your power supply? 120V or 220V? Either way it needs repair Given his problem is solved leaving it with some power on, I strongly suspect condensation was the issue. Net, nothing to be repaired other than keeping the unit warmer. 55 farenheit is pretty cool, esp. on humid days! Mark

I just checked the unit, it printed 115 ~ 230 V next to the power receptacle, with that said I guess this Stealth DC-1 will sense the input electrical current and set proper voltage by itself.

The voltage selection is on the underside of the DC-1...they ship set to 115v so 230v users BEWARE
