Hey Mel, who did you buy the Emotiva gear from? Someone on Ebay? Someone on the forum?....Audiogon?
Where you bought it matters, it may be covered for repairs. Before you beat yourself up over it find out if there is any warranty left. Also if you purchased from someone online and paid via Paypal, I believe you are covered for 90 days if your purchase is not what you expected. Sorry you are going through all of this. Tim

dont forget i also swapped in a pair of psb b5's . they were more laid back in the tweeter but past 9 o clock on the volume the treble makes you literally wince and curl your brow because its so unpleasant and harsh.

i bought the usp 1 from a member on here. he has extended the option to return it for purchase price. the xpa 200 i bought from a guy off of craigslist that bought an amp from the same member i got my usp 1 from.

I would contact the sellers and see if you can work something out. Unfortunately it is sometimes a crap shoot buying second hand. Sometimes new, sh** happens in shipping or what have you.

im thinking the usp 1 more at fault than the xpa 200. i understand stuff happens. but now im gun shy of emotiva now. even though ive heard differently with my own ears.i will accept his refund offer and try to find another preamp . i will give emotiva one more try, after that im over it.

Knowing that the emo amp is neutral and your speakers are on the hot side i will try a tube or hybrid preamp to balance things out

Before your next purchase, possibly best to wait to see the new lines Emotiva introduces. New technology and possibly a bit different sounding.

dilemma figured out.... ive used my 3806 as a preamp, sounds MUCH better and does not break up, tweeters are relaxed. the usp 1 is most likely the culprit.

I found the USP-1 and UPA series of amp sounded best on my sometimes forward sounding RX6 towers

One last thing to try: there's a sliding switch on the back of the amp labeled "Status LEDS". Set this to OFF and see if you hear a difference. I couldn't listen to my XPA-100's with them in the ON position.
