I use Dirac with my XMC-1 since it's available, so approximately one year from now. I'm very pleased with the results. Recently I changed my old leather couches for new softouch microfiber ones and I also add an extra thick center carpet on the oak floor, so I must run another Dirac setup for the new living room environment, the physical changes are drastically enough from the non absorbent leather couches and oak floor to very dampen and sonically absorbent new materials. The results astonish me. Wooooowwwww it was like to assist at a magic show. Let me explain my situation. My 1974 (worst decade for construction regulations in Quebec) bungalow living room is maybe the worst environment for a listening room I had ever seen, first the room is very small 12' X 18' and the construction materials are very cheap (wall of 2" X 4" Studs and outside aluminum clapboard, floor of 2" X 10" strut and not enough thick plywood and not enough rigid and strong), it resulting in a too flexible room to obtaining a good sound. Imagine that you try to listening music in a cardboard shoe's box, all that you hear come from vibrating box's. It is practically and physically impossible to tune correctly the room. There's the Dirac change the game, even for 2 channel stereo critical listening session, I never think that it could be possible in my living room environment, and I never had good results in the past with all the room correction software in my past AVR ( Anthem MRX-700 with ARC and before Denon AVR-3803 with Audyssey ) or my last pre-pro UMC-1 with Emo Q, they all failed to make my room sounds good, I usually prefer living with my room problem without corrections, habitually the corrections results in a worst sounding, except with Dirac software, it is so powerful, sophisticated and precise that I couldn't believe what I heard. Like any other software it not only correcting frequencies but also timings for each frequencies, bouncing, decay, reverb, dynamic etc etc, every aspect intering in room sounding results. Wow! In critical sweet spot stereo listening the results is astonishing, I now believe that I'm listening in a reference room, every down aspects of my bad house have now gone. In 7.1 cinema mode, listening a movie or a DVD concert is now unbelievably good, I feel like I'm physically in action on place, nothing less. Dirac and XMC-1 combo make me feel like I am Davd Copperfield.....! TADAAAAA!!!!! Thank you Emotiva, Francois

Thanks for reminding me that I've changed a piece of furniture in my room, and should really re-run Dirac myself.

I probably should rerun Dirac myself but since it still sounds magical (same as your description), I haven't felt the need to do it. Still loving Dirac and XMC-1 and I'm afraid that I'll waste my time rerunning it bc I hate doing it.

This is why my room needs very little treatments. Full carpet with top of the line padding, a large L-shaped fabric couch, and large fabric Lay-Z-Boy recliner.
I always think to myself under my breath that anyone who considers themselves a true audiophile, but yet has hardwood floors in their listening room, really needs to get over the hardwood floor. Wall to wall carpet is dramatically better.

You are pretty close to the speakers. How far is the couch from the rear wall?
Nice turntable

I had to get a large area rug and other stuff but the room is still much worse that when it was carpeted. I consider myself a true audiophile but this one battle I lost.

The hardwood floor in our house is in the dining & living room. Actually, we converted our living room into a library with custom built in book shelves. My wife is the reader so she got her room just the way she wanted. Therefore, I get my rec room just the way I want it.

I removed my coffee table when I last ran Dirac but when we threw a party, I had to put the table back. That's a big change imho.

My wife leaves the family room alone for the most part - I have my HDMI cable from my projector running down the middle of the room etc. also, the hardwood floors happened when I still had the mid-fi Deftech BP10 speaker system with an Onkyo 708 and XPA-5. My sound system has been substantially upgraded and with Dirac it sounds magical. Still, when we laid that hardwood floor down, I stopped listening to music.

You are pretty close to the speakers. How far is the couch from the rear wall? Nice turntable Yes the couch is in the center of the room because back to the couch is the downstairs and the split walkway. 30 years old TT.

It's a homemade, I did it with 1 inch thick of Russian birch plywood and recycling metal tubing from my old studiotech audio rack.

I used the UMIK-1 with 90 degree cal file, to get the most from Dirac; cuz the stock Emotiva XMC-1 mic suck at accurately read my room.

Nice setup...couldn't find the 6.3, then I saw above the tv...thank god you are sensible enough to have the tv center at eye level!
Speakers look a bit close to the back wall tho but no choice I guess...pull forward maybe if you can....try it...it's free to do
