Hello, my wife and I still listen a lot to FM radio (over the air). Would you also like to see an Emotiva analogue FM tuner ? for example, why not adding it as an option on the ERC-3 CD player ? Another idea is for the new Emersa lineup. As of now (mid-Jan.2016), i have not seen any source device in Emersa. So why not have an all-in-one source box with for example; blu-ray, CD, FM tuner, streamer capabilities ? the only company making an hifi CD player with a built-in FM tuner right now is TEAC with the PD-301 model.

Hmm, terrific question. I hope the EMP-1 has a tuner inside. I honestly don't know. I was wondering that myself.

If you have an ipod or iphone you can get a dock and use the Tune-In Radio app to stream your FM channels. Sounds great and no worries about reception problems. I use the Pure i20 dock with digital toslink out which connects directly to my XDA-2 and it works great. Cambridge and a few others also make these docks.

I'm very surprised terrestrial radio is still so popular but the Pew Research Center analysis of Nielsen Media Research data states that more than 90 percent of U.S. consumers ages 12 and older tune into traditional AM/FM radio. I would love to see a genre breakdown.

I would love to see a genre breakdown. I have a daughter that is 15, and she and her friends rarely listen to the radio. The only time they might, is if they are in the car. They don't even listen to cds, often even though I have a million of them. It's all about streaming with them - Spotify, Pandora, iTunes Radio, etc.

I rarely listen to terrestrial but the majority of my friends listen when in their cars. Typically, NPR, conservative talk radio or college stations.
My point is that I really thought radio was dead until I looked around a little.

I'd be surprised if the EMP-1 does not have a tuner. Probably FM and AM although I honestly can't remember the last time I listened to AM...unless it's circling between the FM1/FM2/AM bands on the car radio.
I do hope we get RDS.

I only gave up on FM stations around here after a great jazz station about 100 miles from me took down their repeater station - I got a 10/10 signal from that repeater since it was on a big hill about 2 miles from me. Apparently I was the only one listening. Listening on-line to that same jazz station just isn't the same. They broadcast on the net in 64k over i-Heart Radio. Now I use my Amazon Fire Stick for radio stations I want to listen to. iHeart Radio fidelity sucks but thats life.

You obviously don't live in Houston. There are no FM stations worth listening to. I had a McIntosh MR 78 tuner & sold it for lack of available content

I can't quote any specifics, but I seem to have heard the exact opposite.....
However, I suspect it depends on what you mean by "terrestrial radio". (I wonder what percentage of that percentage is listening to something like iHeart Radio - which is INTERNET radio, on their phone.)
In any case, sorry, no radio in the Emersa products.

I just hooked up my old Denon AVR-4311 for the home office. It has HD radio capabilities. Used the old-fashioned 300 ohm antenna.
I almost never use it. Either the signals are too spotty or the commercials drive me nuts.
Steaming, either from my HTPC, my Amazon Cloud player, or from TuneIn is just too good in comparison.

I thought I needed a tuner and a CD player and a streamer. Then, I realized I could get all that via a Sonos unit. A SONOS connect will play all my CD's off a hard drive at full quality, play every radio station in my area (via their internet feed) AND stations everywhere that I could otherwise get, AND stream lots of sources...most importantly Tidal. And it does all that with what I think is the best interface in the business. The only thing it cannot do it BluRays and hi rez audio above 16 bit/44.1. But I don't have any of that, so...no loss for me. And when I get some...I can use JRiver over my PC. Mark

Unless Emo installs HD radio tuner, drop it entirely -it's a waste of space- cut the cost. Hope the next XMC has no tuner. We listen to AM & FM OTA weekdays in our home office, don't want to slow my DSL speed streaming while we work. I haven't even set stations on the UMC200. IF we want to listen to radio in A/V room, I use a Denon receiver pre out for analogue sources to UMC. With 5 receivers throughout the house, no need for AM/FM on any new gear.

I sold my fm tuner and cassette deck around the same time, somewhere around 1985...... Thought a guy like you (guitar player) would still be recording on a Reel to Reel. lol That's about the time I sold my R to R- won't play in the car. I have hundreds of recorded cassette tapes that still get played. Some are live recordings taken off the mixing board when I was in college and have no desire to spend days/wks digitizing them. aah, the sound of tape hiss.

I listen to radio 2-4 hours/day at home and always while driving, mostly NPR from the 3-4 NPR stations available here in the WNC mountains, occasionally AM talk radio, and often when I wake up in the middle of the night the dulcet tones of overnight BBC news programming will put me back to sleep. Lots of radio listening during the day but almost never music -- that's what my Emo gear is for. My tuner is a Sony Walkman, which is pretty convenient, especially at 4 AM. Love that CCrane and antenna, but they are pricey. Audiobill, if you've sold your FM tuner, what's that Adcom GFT 555 still doing in your signature?

It's a second unit, not connected.
$100 to first taker, clogging up my rack!
