Debugging time - try the only "internal" source on the XMC-1 - the FM tuner. See if you get any audio there. Make sure you're not using zone 2 in error What does the info screen show you? Are you getting anything video-wise? Oh yeah - make sure the balanced/unbalanced setting on your amp(s) is correct (I know this one from experience)

I get video on all inputs, but no sound on any of them. My amp has unbalanced only, NHT Power5. Will post a photo of my OSD what it shows after the Super Bowl.

Called Emotiva. They told me to update to 3.1a first before they could trouble shoot. More than likely they said it would have to be sent back.

Definitely if there is no test tone output, and no decode of the source, it looks like support from Emotiva's crew is needed. Sorry about your situation, hope it all works out right.

Update: Updated firmware to 3.1a. Still no sound. Talked to Damon from Emotiva and he wants to troubleshoot with me on the phone. Will be doing that this evening. Will post update. Damon seems it will need to be sent in. RMA already issued but crossing fingers he has some magic powers.

Emotiva got my XMC-1 on Tuesday the 16th and just got a confirmation it is shipping back to me already. Great service. Now lets see if it works.

got it back. here is what the problem was according to Emotiva Service.
"Had to replace the EDA-1 and the Front Panel. EDA-1 was the cause of the no audio and the Front Panel had failed the 430 loop back and the CEC loop back."

Not sure what an EDA-1 is, but good to hear that you now have a working XMC-1.

so far I have been lucky and my 2 XMC's have been going well. I did a need a network board replacement that was very early on in the life of the product but thats been fine since. Emotiva service is one of the best I have seen...especially for us in Singapore where they send me parts to put in for people and this makes people very happy as they don't have to ship units back. I guess not all locations are lucky enough to have someone like me doing service, but Emotiva look after you in the USA very well.

This has happened to me twice, but both times I was able to recover...
I normally keep the XMC-1 in standby. Not sure if that is relevant, but just some more info.
The first time was a while ago and didn't remember what I did, but it finally magically came back while I was screwing with the menus. I don't remember what I was doing.
The second time just happened. I tried switching the power off from the back of the unit, unplugging it, and leaving it for about 15 mins. Didn't help. Then unplugged everything from the back of the unit and plugged back in, still nothing. I finally completely powered down, holding the power button. When I turned it back on I was holding the up arrow button on the front of the unit. This will scroll through all the inputs. I noticed while scrolling through one input (that I wasn't using) said PCM 2.0 as expected. Everything was good after that.
So not really sure if this points to a failing board or an OS issue, but if anyone else has this issue you may not have to send your unit in.

Happened to me again...
It seems it is setting itself to PCM 0.0 when I with the power off on the back of the unit for some reason. I am only noticing now because I was moving around some amps. I have used the switch before without any issue so I'm not sure why its happening now.
I was able to recover, though, using my previous instructions. I found a little more info out. It seems all you need to do is change to an analog input and then switch back. Analog 7.1 and and any Analog work reliably for me.
