I'd go McIntosh or Audio Research.

NONE OF THE ABOVE *** There are many companies out there making good reasonably priced audio components. Just look in an AudoAdvisor catalog - Parasound, Project Box Design, Musical Fidelity, and Peachtree. Also there is Cary Audio, Bel Canto, Wired-For-Sound, Hafler, and Red Wine Audio. Also did you know that Audio Alchemy is making a comeback? Now there are many more high end (read that as high priced) companies that will drain your bank account and give you little more in return in performance.

I picked Yamaha, that was what I used to buy before I was aware of Emotiva.

Take out all the crappy Belgium beers and that would be a decent picture.

It would seem that you mean for Home Theater based on your list. Is this the case?
I am exactly in this dilemma right now as Emotiva still insists on abandoning legacy video connections. Only 4 HDMI on the new Emersa Processor kills me. I'll be going Marantz or Anthem for my next HT purchase. Probably Anthem for their ARC. I'd love to go Emo, but only 4 HDMI and no legacy connections rules me out.

I am new to Emotiva and I am intrigued about their new lineup, But, I am also impatient so I was curious of what other brands do people like.

I would go "none of the above" on the alternates. I am very happy with my XMC and I have not liked anything else I had or looked at.

If I had to go with another it would be one with a room eq system that is still being improved upon ie arcam or anthem ; and considering the higher price Ide want all the audio codecs covered including 'object' audio

Has anyone had any experience with the Cambridge Audio stuff?

I've had two Cambridge Audio products, an ID100 iPod Dock and an Azur 840C upsampling CD player. Both units are still being used and sound very good. I use the ID100 via XLR to an Emotiva DC-1 > XSP-1 > XPA-1,s > Magnaplanar 36.R's. The Cambridge CD player is used in a low power SET setup ( Cambridge > W4S ST Preamp > Wright Mono 7's > Cain & Cain Abbeys).
