Hi all, did anyone ever had player/recorder, there were actually some companies selling prerecorded movies, I had a Toshiba unit, a 50 inch Mitsubishi tv, everything was awesome and the sound was as good.

I remember hearing about this format but that is about it. I confess, I was a SuperBeta guy!!,,,,,,there, I said it out loud! Sure was superior to the other formats. NFL sports used it for years and years!

I recorded quite a few movies, it looked just like the original broadcast, no artifacts, just clean, twice as good as plain vhs.

I had a couple VHS Hi-Fi units that I used to record music on. It was an excellent recording and playback system although not very portable.

I had an S=VHS VCR. In the 80's. And I had an Alesis ADAT recorder that used S-VHS tapes. In about 1991.
At the time, they were the shiiit. By today's standards, both formats suck.

I had a JVC, I think it was what we called Super VHS? Is this what we're talking about a S-VHS?

I actually did music recording on it, a few hours worth, sounded so gooooood, but it was super for recording from Cable and satellite, you couldn't tell it was recorded.

I had S-VHS and I used to rent Laserdiscs locally and record them on S-VHS tape. I have many S-VHS movies as a result but my S-VHS player/recorder no longer works (I wouldn't play them anymore anyway because the PQ has been surpassed since DVD days). I also had an HD tape recorder and used to copy HD shows from HBO, Showtime, etc. via a FireWire connection between my cable box and the JVC HD recorder(which failed twice). PQ was on a par with HD-DVD (which I also had) and Bluray, but virtually no one supported tape copying and the big media corps wanted it killed. I now have UHD equipment - Samsung 65JS8500 tv and the new Samsung K8500 UHD player. The only recording/playbock schemes I side stepped (but seriously considered at the time) were Cartridge Vision, Betamax, and oh yeh that RCA needle/video vinyl record system which I always thought was idiotic.

I had two JVC Super VHS machines. Don't remember the model number. I actually did some editing (fade-ins and outs and wipes etc.) That is the reason for two machines. I had another product (name is no longer in memory bank) that slowed be to edit and add titles etc. I only did this for a short time and then got bored. The whole system is long gone. Don't remember where they went. Do have a couple of tapes I made with my oldest granddaughter's first through fifth birthday. She is now 25 years old. I guess I should give the tape to her dad. I think he still has a VHS machine.

I regret giving away my deck, beautiful picture along with a beautiful sound.... I am not positive but I think I may still have my old SVHS VCR's in my storage buried somewhere. The picture/sound quality was great for the time but nothing compared to my current system.

I still have a Blaupunt RTV-925 (is equal to the Panasonic NV-FS88). Very well build. I kept it because it still working very well and sometimes somebody comes along with an old (S)VHS and asks me to digitize it. The record my home movies I had the Panasonic MS-4. Once I had a problem during our trip to Thailand that at one temple I initially wasn't allowed to enter the complex as filming with professional equipement wasn't allowed without prior written consent. It cost our trip guide some effort to convince the guard that this camera was only for privat use. And to edit my movies with my PC the GSE Video Mouse:

I still have an S-VHS editing deck buried in storage somewhere. Computer control and passing timecode seemed like such a step up back then - now I would not have the patience to wait for the tape to roll to the proper spot.
