"Are you sure that the part about the smile and warm fuzzy feeling have nothing to do with morphine?" Dann Ha... much better than morphine. The morphine can sure enough give you that warm fuzzy feeling spreading throughout your body, but they dull your senses in the process. lol The ERT-8.3, on the other hand, dramatically enhances your senses while providing that warm fuzzy feeling. A little birdie told me that your new avator was inspired by the photo taken of you when you were being introduced to Dolly Parton! (he he, ho ho, ha ha) Shame on you.

Awesome review. Although the biggest Emo speaker that I'm considering are the 6.3's I still received a thrill from reading your detailed review of the 8.3's. I read every single word. Discovering Emo has caused me a ton of angst...in a good way glad you liked it and I hope it aids your decision process . . .

Rather, That was a well written review. I am working my way through the stack first with the amp, then the ERC, then the XMC and if my B&W 804's cannot keep pace I will try the 8.3 in a side by side. I think most of us have to clear the house to get our way with the volume and me too! Again, Nicely done! thanks. . . I hope to do the same with the ERC as well . . . I'm jealous of your 804s . . .

thanks . . I still have a lot of work but the UMC will push things into the final stages. ERDs for sure will be added when available and then of course, I need a sub.
I need to solve the problem of the center channel. I don't particularly like the tv on top of it. I don't think there's enough room for both the TV and the center on the top shelf but if so, I will prop the TV behind the center and see if that works.
I did see someone with the same stand simply remove the top center drawer and his looked great. However, his stand is all black and it blended smoothly. Mine would draw attention to it.
Any suggestions on how to take better pcitures?

Nice setup In your second picture it looks like you can see the driver units through the grills. Are the grills generally half-transparent/see-through, or is it an effect of using a flash for the picture? Considering a pair myself, and would much prefer a flat-black look =)

Humm,,,, Mine sounded , well,,,Let's say I was on the fifth song and maybe I started to smile, most expensive speakers I've bought. Then the tweeter's went to total silence,,, Called and got Lonnie, he looked my problem over and decided, I might be pushing them to hard ? Emotiva has decided to buy these speakers back or send me out new tweeters just to make me happy. Great company that is concerned about it's customers. By the way I was using a New XPA-2 to power them.

I don't beleive you would have to pay for shipping for warranty service??? Typically you have to pay shipping to the manufacturer for warranty repair. There are exceptions, but this is generally how it goes. The other Doug

I guess I've been lucky enough never to have to send something back (electronics). I've never had to send electronics back to the factory to be fixed, but I did send my Threshold S500 that I bought in 1986 back to Threshold in 1993 to have them update it to their E series standards and specs. They put in new circuit boards and added balanced inputs. It still worked just like new when I did that, but they offered the upgrade and I liked the idea. I'm trying to remember what that cost me to ship at the time..I know it wasn't cheap. It was too heavy for UPS at that time so I had to send it fed ex air.

Rather, I regards to the center channel: That was me who pulled the top drawer out for the center channel on my BDI. First suggestions, you can buy a kit made for the bdi stand that will hold your TV. It basically is two chrome tube that are fed through the two openings on your stand, you can then hang your tv on it and the tv is no longer on the center channel. The other suggestion is replace the glass on the top drawer with the speaker fabric insert, I believe you can get one from bdi too. I removed it completely, as much as I loved the look of the front finish, it looks clean without. Give it a try you can always go back. I hope this helps.

I have been looking at that stand that BDI has. We don't want to mount the TV on the wall so its either that, or a professionally done riser for the TV. I have a friend who's a woodworking expert and we're in the final stages of completing the project. It will be stained to match the cherry stand and made of oak.
Basically the TV will sit behind the center channel (they fit fine) under this arrangement. If that doesn't work, then I don't have much money in it so I can move on to the BDI mount.
Putting the center channel in the drawer won't work for me as I need the space for all my toys. I did have the fabric cover initially but it interfered with the remote for the satellite receiver so I swapped it.
I'll post pics of the riser Incorporated into the stand. It would have been done this past weekend but I got involved in other things.

Right on! You've had your speakers a lot longer now, is there anything you'd change on your review after having spent more time with them? Positives, Negative or are they still as good as the review you wrote?

More of the same I'm happy to report. These speakers perform precisely as advertised: detailed, neutral, and detailed. I have mostly had casual listening since I did the initial review. I have added the Marantz SACD player so I often pop in 5 discs, grab a glass a wine (or beer) and let the music roll.
I do have two buddies coming over in a couple of weeks and the ERC should be here by then so I will update everyone after that and perhaps even after the Texas GTG that is tenatively set for my house. We'll see what happens but there are some great speakers.

Ok, I have to own these speakers and the matching center channel. I have never heard them but with the Emo fest coming up, I may try to wait and listen to them there. They are beautiful and if they are anything like the subs and amps, I think I will have an erection for a couple weeks. Could be the labor day weekend will save a few bucks as well. I hate waiting but at my age, what the heck, if I croak before I get them I will never know anyway.
C'mon September. I will also vouch for the Emotiva Service, everything I have bought has arrived in perfect condition, with not a single problem. Heck even the center channel stand is, to my, over engineered and would look better with an Emo speaker than a B&W I think.
