Here I am attempting to accomplish a review of the 6.2 speakers. My first mistake was ordering them so that they had a Saturday delivery. I had to wait til today, Monday, for the actual delivery. The Fed Ex man is out of Charlotte and he's quite familiar with the remote location where I live. He's been here many times with an Emotiva delivery. This time it was a paltry 32 pounds whereas past deliveries ranged from 21 pounds for the ERM-1 up to 115 pounds for the MPS-2. Delivery was made with no damage at all to report. The outer boxes were a little dirt smudged but no more. It surprised me that the speakers (3ea) were packaged with the grills attached but the way the packaging was done no damage was likely to occur. After unpacking and photographing one of the 6.2's I compared and shot photos of and ERM-1 next to the ERM-6.2 and I was surprised at how much larger the 6.2 actually was. After I finished my photo session, I hooked the 6.2 up to my 2-ch system, replacing the ERT-8.3 speakers. My 2-ch system consistes of a Marantz tt-15, Denon DVD-3910, Emo RSP-2 and 2 RPA-2's passively bi-amped. My first listen was to a "Hits Singles 1958 - 1977 (right down my alley). Immediately I was shocked at how solid the base was on this speaker. I though it would be a lot less than the 8.3..I guess the the 8.3 does go deeper but, still, the 6.2 isn't anything to scoff at. Next played was the Eagles "EAGLES" CD and these speakers continues to awe me. Still the same solid base and the highs were crystal clear. Nothing at all to gripe about. Moving on I next tried some Jean-Pierre Rampal the renowned flutist. WOW! The orchestra was beautiful and the soulds of the Flute floated out to me with great clarity. If you've never heard Jean-Pierre, yhou owe it to yourself to at least give him a listen. I finished with a Ferlin Husky "Vintage Collections" CD. This finished my listening session with something that was right down my alley. Most of the songs were so familiar to me and hadn't sounder better without having something the 8.3 in it's place..guess this shows a little a klittle about my age! At least I get to draw my Social Security monies to go along with my Air Force retirement income. This speaker is sufficient for music for all but Bass- Whores but needs a sub for HT IMHO. While it is not a 6.3 or an 8.3 it sure holds it's own. I would recommend it to anyone that needed a superb speaker that doesn't take up all that much room. It's picture time. Shown here is one of the ERM-6.2 as it arrived. Box has no damage just dirty. As you can see, it's double-boxed and almost damage proof The extra thick foam packing cannot be beat! This is the front view with to grill removed. This is a back view of the speaker. A close-up shot of the back reveals the bi-amp terminals and the familiar switches. A side-by-side shot of the ERM-1 and the ERM-6.2. The larger one is the 6.2. The final shot shows the 6.2 atop the 8.3 from the 2 ch system and next to the 6.3 from my HT system. The 6.2 replaced the 8.3 in the listening review. With all said and done I am very happy with the SQ of the 6.2's though they will not replace the 8.3's, I guess I will have to relagate the 6.2's to my bedroom system and get rid of the AperionAudio system I currently have in there. In the first photo (at top of this review) you can just make out a pair of ERD-1's I use for the L & R rear surrounds. Ciao ;D ;D ;D ;D

I was lucky enough many years ago to be able to see Simon and Garfunkle in concert in Denver, Co. They were unbelieveable!! I don't see any speaker from Emotiva that anyone couldn't love....they are all spectacular. I've been watching the NCAA tournament this evening and lo and behold, North Carolina Tarheels have wrapped it up. ;D ;D It feels good to be from North Caroiina!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

whoa!!! that 6.2 is much bigger than i thought compared to the ERM-1! very cool!
I'm very jealous of all your systems!!! you have been able to get your hands on every single one of emotivas offerings!! That is so cool!
Its great to finally read a review on the 6.2's. It appears they have been overshadowed by its big brothers (6.3, 8.3). Those would definately make an awesome HT with the 6.3 as center or even another 6.2!
I just love those front baffles, i think they are just awesome looking. I was thinking about eventually picking up some ERM-1's for a bedroom setup/computer setup and i may just have to go with the 6.2's! Thanks for the awesome review!!!

Thanks for the review topcat! Your room looks like a hi-end audio shop with more speakers than Dann G has in his bedroom closet. Glad to see the 6.2's get some "respect".

topcat: Thanks sooooo much for the review....just what I wanted to hear I had been on pins and needles waiting for your review. I'm leaning more and more towards the 6.2's(as mains) at this point based on the bang-for-the-buck factor. I just have to decide if I want to go with the ERM-1, another 6.2, or the 6.3 for the CC. That's an awesome-looking room of beautiful equipment that you have there.

The only way left to go is UP. Ive got the plase the UMC-1 and ERC-1 in the system yet. The UMC-1 will replace the Integra 9.8 so I should gain some room on the move. ;D ;D

Man I'm having a hard time justifying the increased cost of the 6.3 over the 6.2, I know the 6.3's are very VERY good, but over 2x the cost I don't know. OTOH I know I'll always be second guessing my self if I get the 6.2's, but I guess that leaves me open for a future upgrade. ;D

Although I'm sure the 6.3 is a better speaker(and the consumer reviews bear this out) it appears the 6.2 could be the bang-for-your-buck king of Emo's killer speaker lineup.

...and if paired with a good sub, wouldn't the sound between the 6.3/6.2 be less obvious?...thus going with the 6.2 would be a $$$ saver w/o the loss of SQ.
....decisions, decisions!

...and if paired with a good sub, wouldn't the sound between the 6.3/6.2 be less obvious?...thus going with the 6.2 would be a $$$ saver w/o the loss of SQ. ....decisions, decisions! I don't follow your reasoning. The 6.2 and 6.3 use the same bass driver, so the difference between these speakers would not be focused on the bottom end. The area most significant would be the use of the 4 inch drivers in the 6.3, and using a good subwoofer will do nothing to compensate for that. The 6.3s have a killer midrange that few speakers can even begin to match, regardless of price. This is the area that is going to give the 6.3s a big advantage in SQ over the 6.2s. Yes, going with the 6.2 will be a $$$ saver, but it most definitely will be at a loss in SQ. Is the 6.3 worth the price differential? That all depends on your ears and the type of music you enjoy listening to. In a home theater set up, the differences between the two will not be quite as obvious, but for strictly music listening I would choose the 6.3 everytime, inspite of the price. The ERM-6.3s really are that good. ;D ;D Listen to a pair (or three) and you will be keeping them in your system for years to come.

Those 4" woofers manhandle the mids in a big way. BUT...I'm gonna have to say, when I've heard the dual sub prototypes with the 6.2's...it was magic. They just locked up together. Why not have a set of each?
