Did you notice a large volume output drop when you switched to them? And how do they sound with the xpa units vs. AVR?

Is anyone bi-wiring their speaker with xpa amps? Just fired up my RTi a7 towers for the first time today, bi-amped from my Denon Avr x4200w... they are SO power hungry! Much less output than the TSx series I upgraded from. Weird since they are 1db less sensitive. Anyone else run RTi series speakers? Did you run the calibration after changing speakers?

Not yet I haven't. The calibration I ran with the x910 receiver had a fuller sound, more bass. When I switched receivers to the x4200 it was reversed. I have been running it in L/R bypass mode all day instead. These a7's are bass lobsters though. They need a lot more volume input though.. didn't think they would be that much quieter.
Edit: They are not lobsters... but monsters.

Slap a xpa-2 on the fronts and I bet your prob will be cured. No bi amp needed.

It is a wonderful feeling thank you. It is nice to know it was built for me when I ordered it. And will do. How hard are the LSi's to push?

Have to feed it more then the rates to notice a difference really.. will sound fine at 200 watts though.. at least I always thought they sounded fine using the xpa-2.

More than the rates? RTia7 are 88db speakers also.. thought they were 89 but no huge deal. Apparently they are much more power hungry than their other lines.

Should head to polk audio's forum to ask about the difference between the speakers. The new one could be just more smoother and less boomy then the old line.

Ah yes thank you. According to one of the reps I spoke to at Emotiva the Gen3 units are VERY conservatively rated... somewhere around 325 RMS@8ohm... under .01 thd. And they are 300 watt rated speakers so they should open up fine tomorrow

Did you notice a large volume output drop when you switched to them? And how do they sound with the xpa units vs. AVR? I never ran them on the AVR.... Got the speakers and amps at the same time. But the combination of XPA-1L and XMC-1 is not as loud as my old Yamaha and Paradigm 7se. It's better, but not louder. I can turn this system all the way up. Could not do that with the Yamaha

Everyone should have bass lobsters. Why not go for the monsters?
