Hi,
could you please tell me why the DC-1 is using a (IEC 60320) C18 power inlet that omits the earth contact? I live in Europe and we usually encounter C13 inlets with a ground. I would assume that an unearthed contact would add humming or other disturbances such as ground loops, but I might be wrong in my assumption. Thank you. On a side-note I have ordered the DC-1 and, besides liking the company's philosophy, I am looking forward to add it to my setup.
Kind regards

I think you'll be okay with your usage. The DC-1 is very quiet in my experience. (USA)

Thank you and I certainly hope so , but I would like to know what led to the decision to use an unearthed inlet

Thank you and I certainly hope so , but I would like to know what led to the decision to use an unearthed inlet I would surmise it's to prevent ground loops.

Thank you and I certainly hope so , but I would like to know what led to the decision to use an unearthed inlet To get that information, you need to contact Emotiva. This forum is just a bunch of users of the products, so we don't know the reasons for their decisions. Sometimes, Emotiva employees come on here and provide information, but you are best off asking them directly. That said, while they often provide details of what they have in their components, they sometimes do not readily disclose rationale for their design decisions. So, ask, but you may not get an answer. And, ultimately, if it works and you like it, does it really matter why they decided what they did? Mark

Got a reply from the support. They chose to not include a ground pin to avoid any sort of ground loops, and the transformer inside of the unit is double-insulated to avoid any issues with ground differentials as well.
