I was trying to run Dirac and my mac running 10.11.4 can clearly see and run the emotiva usb microphone.... But Dirac cannot. I have searched on here and didn't find a solution. Does anyone know the trick. Please note that I do not consider trying to go to an old OS a solution as both the XMC-1 and Dirac are too pricey to not be keeping up with yearly software updates. My laptop came with 10.11.4. Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running the latest firmware version on your XMC-1? Try the following quickies:
1. Try a different USB port on the Mac. 2. Leave the mic disconnected. Reboot the Mac. Plug in the mic, then run Dirac. 3. Connect the mic. Reboot the Mac and run Dirac.
Failing the above, call Emotiva for further assistance.

I am not running the latest firmware on the XMC-1, however Dirac sees the XMC-1 just fine. Likewise in the sounds setting in system preferences the mac sees the mic no problem... it even sees what kind of mic it is, and if you select it for input the light on the usb blinks and the system will register levels of sounds in the room... so the mic works with OS X for sure. It reacts to my voice.
Dirac on the other hand well its sees playback device, speaker system, but under microphone all that registers is <no device connected>.
On a longshot I re-downloaded dirac and re-installed it just on some off chance maybe there was some sort of update as the normal straight from dirac version has a higher version number from what I can tell on dirac specific forums... but that didn't change the results

I've tried all the usb ports, I've tried rebooting, tried reboot with and without the usb mic plugged in, same with not plugged in. I could see some earlier posts regarding others having this issue but they were sparse with info.

Unless you have a compelling reason not to, I'd install the latest firmware version on the XMC-1. Then after another go, call Emotiva for help.

Ok tried it on another macbook... the one that I used originally with dirac... same results, the mac itself can see and operate the mac... the dirac software cannot

Lol, normally I am the guy that is all like "oh goody, new firmware" for any product, but I remember at the time that there were lots of posts with issues. Has all that to your knowledge been cleared up with the "a" version?

I updated the XMC-1 to the latest firmware and as I expected this resulted in no improvement to my problem. Keith are you out there... I need some of that magical advice.

I had the same prob. My son popped for the full Dirac upgrade for me for Father's Day. That version/license key was the magic bullet. The whole thing works. You do have to use the Midi app to set the mic as input device and set the gain at 100%. The full version is also easier to calibrate.
I got the LE version to work on my MacBookPro using VMware Fusion and Windows10. That was sluggish and hard to calibrate.

I'm struggling to understand why people stick with El Capitan if their hardware supports Yosemite. It's a better OS (Yosemite). Seems to be a simple solution

I'm wondering if there is any news on the update? I'm anxious to get my new XMC-1 up and running with Dirac and my Mac!

I'm struggling to understand why people stick with El Capitan if their hardware supports Yosemite. It's a better OS (Yosemite). Seems to be a simple solution It's not trivial to downgrade from El Capitan to Yosemite (you need to wipe the machine and basically reinstall from scratch, since El Capitan backups cannot be restored on top of a Yosemite image). Also, El Capitan being the latest, most people tend to upgrade for the newer features (not knowing of course, they may hit obscure bugs like these). I'm wondering if there is any news on the update? I'm anxious to get my new XMC-1 up and running with Dirac and my Mac! I have no idea when the Dirac update is coming, but I can confirm that upgrading to the Full edition of Dirac did fix the problem for me (I was stuck with the exact same issue, you can find in another thread here from not long ago).

This is good to know. I may wait a bit longer and do some measurements with REW and use the 2 speaker presets for now.

This only applies to Dirac LE, the full version recognizes the mic..........at least in my experience with a Mac Book Pro Retina mid 2012 running El Capitan

Some of you who run Dirac Live on an Apple computer with El Capitan may have experienced an issue where Dirac Live fails to recognize the microphone. When this happens, other programs on the Mac recognize the microphone, but Dirac reports that no microphone is present. This ONLY happens with El Capitan, and ONLY on some few machines (and those same machines work fine with Yosemite on them).
Dirac is working on a modification to their software that will permanently eliminate this issue. Until then, we have a workaround that should allow Dirac Live to work properly on machines that exhibit the problem. (Note that this workaround involves manually moving some files, and will probably have to be repeated if Dirac Live is reinstalled or updated.)
See the attached PDF for instructions.

Same deal here- when I open Dirac LE on daughters MacBook running ElCap- it sees the XMC but not the mic. The laptop sees the mic and is getting and showing signal. Just not Dirac.
I tried the work around but under Application Support I did not see the Dirac folder- but it's on the desktop so I'm looking right at it. Workaround for the workaround? Or am I doing something stoopid again.

Guess I'll have to spring for the full version. I'm sure it was designed to fail so we'd spend more money... thanks, Emotiva.
