Update for everyone: After spending some time making a custom house curve and moving away from the auto-curve, I can happily say that the warm sound of the speakers has improved -for the most part. I am having trouble isolating a small range of "harsh" that pokes its head out very noticeably on a particular song. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can try to isolate a specific song's frequency for an instrument so that I can try and dial back that specific range with Dirac? Is what I am asking for unheard of / unreasonable? Download REW, it has a real time analyzer that should show you the freq

It's not unreasonable - but it may or may not be possible. You may or may not be able to pick out the frequency range of a particular instrument with an RTA - it sort of depends on whether it's the loudest thing going on at the time. (Or if it's the loudest thing within a particular range of the spectrum.) Another way to find the frequency is simply to do manual EQ, turn one band way down, and "slide" that band up and down until it "knocks out" the thing you're trying to find. Note that most instruments cover a wide range of frequencies between their primary and harmonics. However, whether you're going to be able to fix it with EQ or not will depend on the cause. If it's really just a bump in frequency response, then you should be able to reduce it with EQ. However, if the bump is caused by something like a resonance in the tweeter, then simply reducing it won't eliminate all the harshness. If that's the case, the harshness may be due to ringing or distortion, and, if so, the only way to get rid of it entirely would be to make a huge dip in the response at that frequency, which would also sound bad. (If a driver rings at a certain frequency, it will cause a bump in response, and you can EQ that out - but you can't eliminate the actual ringing.)
