Tube porn is just that. Please state any pertinent information you may have. Share what you like, add personal comments. preffered tubes etc. whatever you like. Im starting with a NOA ( new to me older rebuilt two channel amp ) the ST 70. Love the sound of my first tube amp rebuilt by our beloved audiobill. Ive matched it with my first preamp C220 running my preffered stock McIntosh tubes. The combination has my writing love letters to Big Dan and Lonnie about some Emotiva branded tubed gear! Heres my my most recent pic.

Nick very nice. You share with me... I can't contribute...unless you give me an invitation..for a listen..with beverages of course 8) I can only ask is your room acousticly sound to compensate for both a tube pre and the ST70?? I tested a tube pre with my m125's and I thought the combination made my diamonds sound bright and I consider my room acoustics thru out well represented. So give us your evaluation on how your Paradigm's blend with your newly acquired ST70 and the McIntosh C220.
Have fun Nick

bluemeanies , Ill even throw in lunch! Come on down!! The amp hasn't added any brightness that the Studios don't already exhibit. That said, I rolled some tubes in the preamp and found that the stock McIntosh 12SX7A's are perfect! Gold Lions made it have more of a SS sound, no roll off in the tweeters and much more accurate sound. Not a tubed sound. My room is very well treated, corner traps, absorbers behind the seated area and first reflections. Heavy drapes over the windows and doors. Have you not seen my room? I can if you like. Edit; so ive gone back to the stock tubes and I have bliss.

Sweet looking amp. Do you know if the copper plating will need maintance to avoid turning black/green or they put a special coating on it?

I didn't do the plating, but it does appear to have a clearcoat - little fingerprinting....should keep color fine.

Edit; so ive gone back to the stock tubes and I have bliss. Nick I remember seeing one pic.....a while ago...perhaps a refresher for my memory would be unblock my memory banks. Also, one comment. I never thought that the ST70 would add any brightness. In my testing which involved the SP14 tube pre I found compared to my GRACE m920 while the SP14 was inviting and at first stimulating (because it was a different sound) I realize that it seem unnatural after a couple of days. Of course the McIntosh C220 has an entirely different quality to your music that I am not familiar knowing the SP14 better. Not all equipment are equal. Just to make it clear I thought the C220 might have accented the sound to a more brighter side. I am considering spending some funds on ascoutics. Currently I am using gray foam egg-crates on my side walls and back wall under my screen as well as diffusers on my ceiling. I am limited in speaker placement. I keep on wishing for an additional 4' in width that would enable a broader soundstage. Alas nothing is perfect. Hell I'm grateful for what I have, not as UNGRATEFUL as I sound. I am always looking for improvement without becoming anal. However, I will add that at present, my system now, minus room ascoutics, is PERFECT and I have no desire to upgrade. In fact the idea of different room ascoutics is more for esthetics. hey when you have money to burn why not! lol....not really and besides I have to get an approval from my banker..my BETTER half.

Let me further clarify, if I may. Id like not only a sweet looking set-up but one the sounds as sweet as she looks! And while Im at it, id really love to have it at an Emotiva price point/ quality standard!,, ie, We can afford it!! I have sent my request to Big Dan as you had suggested.
