My two cents, like others have said, is the speakers need to be spaced farther apart and away from the front wall. If you can't move the bookcases somewhere besides against the front wall, consider moving them closer to the TV and put your speakers on either end but keep them away from the front and side walls. Also don't have the speakers equidistant from the front and side wall. Move the shelves/bookcase on the left side of the room further back.
You also mentioned you have the speakers toed so they cross about 1-2 feet in front of you. I think that is too severe considering how close the speakers are to each other. Move them apart and then experiment with the toeing.
Unless your room sounds too live or has too much slap echo, I don't think you need any room treatments. Maybe just cover the leather sofa with something more sound absorbent.

The DAC's volume is set at 80 Try the DAC at 100. Actually some dacs get lousy at lower levels than the max The XDA-1 is lossy (though not necessarily lousy) when the level is set below maximum, but I believe 80 is max on the XDA-1.
