there is no way I know of to remotely control the desktop of a Mac with an ipad other than the ipad playing your itunes library remotely but that of course has nothing to do with Tidal. On your Mac, enable screen sharing in System Preferences -> Sharing Then install a VNC client on your iPad, for instance the free VNC Viewer, and use that to access the Mac desktop from your iPad. There might also be a program in the newer versions of iOS that you can use. See shows ya what I know haha, myself my iPad is the first one so too old for me to do that lol, hopefully that can work for bluemeanies

You need to have a computer be it Mac or Windows or what have you connected to your system using the Tidal desktop app, I run it on my Mac Mini but I need to have a screen connected to the Mac to see what I am doing and control it with my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, there is no way I know of to remotely control the desktop of a Mac with an ipad other than the ipad playing your itunes library remotely but that of course has nothing to do with Tidal. Chad It doesn't Nick. Perhaps I phrased it the wrong way. Here is the layout. In my HT/2channel listening room I have Apple TV. Using my iPad that has the TIDAL APP. That is how I stream my music to the Grace Design m920 powering my b&w's with my tube mono-blocks. Also I have an APP for ITunes for my music catalog but b/c of TIDAL I do not use. (iTunes Match) I use to have to leave my computer ON when using iTunes Match which I did not like b/c my desktop is on the third floor. I am thinking I would have to leave the computer on if I wanted to access TIDALMASTERS from my desktop but I wanted someone else to have a voice as I am NOT computer savvy. That is why I am also asking about ROON, ROON + Tidal is there an audio advantage of having both? How do they interact? I am curious about that combination. If ROON has a positive impact in audio quality, how much does one actually hear disseminating TIDAL by itself and then listening with ROON. I am from the camp that it is all in the original recording. I know my listening devices (EARS) are battle fatigued from prior years of abuse. Thank God I am able to appreciate what I listen to on my current setup. I still have that ability to be able to compare noticeable differences in recordings and speaker placement....and some equipment. However, minor nuances I could not tell you. Thanks Nick...I hope I explained myself a little better. Yes Chad, thats what I do with my Mac Mini and Bluetooth keyboard/ mouse. Its plugged into a monitor. Big screen for the game and monitor which I turn off after my selection. Or the screensaver kicks in. Only way I know to do it.

They will, but Roon is working on a major software improvement release (1.3). If you haven't tried it, give Roon a whirl. It's been a game changer for me. I went all in with a lifetime membership after using it for a month. EDIT: The Roon Tidal interface is excellent. You can catalog Tidal albums amongst you own private collection, and the interface is really clean. EDIT: The Meridian Explorer2 (MQA) will work with Roon as long as nothing is being added to the outbound signal. Add Tidal Masters (MQA) within the Tidal desktop (PC/MAC) to your Tidal Favorites, and those favorites will be processed in MQA. I really thought it sounded good, especially from a portable USB DAC priced at $200.

I finally bought a USB cable and connected my wife's Mac Pro laptop to oppo USB b input. I have been using my iPad to control the tidal app on oppo 105. I have it running and have been playing the master albums and enjoying it. I am not that computer savvy. My question is that my oppo 105 indicates "USB AUDIO IN: Audio LPCM 2.0 48k", no matter which master album I play. I would expect some to say 96k, since I thought the first fold was done in the software. I realize that the DAC is not mqa, but I thought It would get to 96k. Knowing I would not get 192k. I'm assuming it is 24 bit, is this a normal reading from my oppo or am I missing something? Thanks for your help, Ed.
mmmmm, has the same readout for non master discs.

There is an APPLE remote in the App Store. If your iMac is on you can access your music that is on your computer with this app. What I what to experiment with is downloading the TIDAL app on my desktop for MQA and try to access it on my iPad using the APPLE remote app. My computer is on the third floor but is hard wired to my APPLE TV in my dedicated room.

I have access to master albums, etc. my question is that my oppo dac reads 48k whether it is a master or not. Thanks Chad, I will consider hdmi.

It seems that you may have to adjust the settings on your computer as they may be set to default. Good luck poking around in there. Thats what I had to do nut dont remember exactly how to do it. Its in the sound settings.

The computer was set for default and I went to utilities to audio midi setup and changed to 2-channel -24 bit integer, 96,000.0 hz. I am getting nice sound, but again, the oppo displays USB Audio In: Audio LPCM 2.0 48k. Thanks. Ok, now I have it working. I needed to go into the streaming settings of tidal and engage exclusive mode. 88,96..........bedtime.

Anybody and @keithl Ive contacted Yamaha USA and inquired about a topic with my RX-A 3020 and after explaining my question was politely put on hold after which was told an upline tech would need to help me. I asked about Tidal support in the form of a software patch and was told that new models will get a Tidal patch but that my unit would not be supported, he claimed that the hardware most likely wouldn't support it. The 3020 does support streaming from othe services and did so with a resent patch. It also does hi resolution audio. Yamaha has recently put a new patch out but nothing was fixed that ill ever know about. The 3020 has always worked beautifully. I believe they just want to sell a newer unit and not support older ones, but I may be mistaken. I sure would like to know more then I do at this time. Any thoughts/help/ideas?.. Thanks in advance. So many things I miss from my XMC-1,,,,,,,,,
