I created DIY speakers with both types of tweeters and my ears don´t register for example the Morel ST-1108 as inferior to the AMTs or ribbon tweeters in my other speakers.
Nothing against different opinions and experiences, I just wanted to say that an AMT isn´t always better than a conventional tweeter (ScanSpeak is also worth a listening here).

My Revels have a beryllium dome tweeter and it's not too shabby either!

Thoroughly agree. The Folded Ribbon Tweeter is tops in its game. I cannot listen too anything else. Color me spoiled okay? The dispersion, the imaging, lack of compression, and distortion is what I love about these tweeters. The Stealth, and the Airmotiv Impress with terrific balance, power, quality, and that I can do anything you want form factor. As for Hemis and Over Head Cams Keith, I will do you a crazy with a 572 Chevy Crate motor with Push Rods, and overhead valves. From a Packaging standpoint. My favorite. Not going to hurt anyone's feelings that it will do 600HP very easily. Pushrods, and all make the package narrower than overhead cams, lowers center of gravity too. See Keith, you got me started. LOL. But coming back, I think the Elac B6 is a great product. I am glad it is made for more folks to enjoy. But I think for everything you want, and more is here with Airmotiv. Just saying. My initial interest for the ribbon tweeter was from listening to a pair of Martin Logan Motion 15's compared to B&W 685's and even their CM1's at Best Buy. The Motion 15's just sound brighter to me, so when Emo announced the B1's were going to feature a similar tweeter on a pair of bookshelf speakers for $300 for a pair vs $800 for Motion 15's (seriously?), I knew Emo was for me. Even the ML LX 16's at $239 a piece, which are identical to the Motion 15's, were a little out of my budget. I did order the Elac B6's and look forward to testing them out before I decide to order to the Emo B1's. It was just a $$ decision. Im hoping I hate the B6's and have to go all Emo B1's. Emotiva, get with a credit card company and offer 6 or 12 month 0% financing PLEASE!

If you want to pay for Emotiva items with extended 0% credit terms buy them on Amazon and get an Amazon Store Credit Card. Its offered through Synchrony (formerly GE Credit). They offer extended payment terms depending upon item value of 6, 12 or 24 months. Not that I am recommending that you take on debt for audio gear but it is available.

Emotiva, get with a credit card company and offer 6 or 12 month 0% financing PLEASE! PLEASE, quit making me laugh! You expect Emo to offer you a 0% (6-12mo) card for $255 (15% off) of speakers? If you can't come up with $255 cash I wouldn't offer you a credit line anyway. .......... Do you have a job (you're homeless)? .......... Could you borrow the money from your mom or girlfriend (or pastor)? .......... Do you have a " Anything Helps ..... God Bless" cardboard sign and live near a freeway on-ramp/off-ramp? .......... Anything you could pawn? Any other Loinge Lizards have any other good ideas to come up with the money?

I would like to offer a mixed opinion on AMT tweeters. I was initially excited about the potential of an AMT as I am a big fan of ML electrostatics as well as various ribbon and similar designs. My favorite mass market tweeters are the long gone Infinity EMIT / EMIT-R tweeters and I liked the potential of an AMT to approach the light, airy feel of some of those models.
I picked up some Martin Logan Motion speakers with AMTs and I have to admit I hated the AMT on the Motion. It's hard to describe but I found them fast, seemingly accurate, but lifeless and uninteresting. I am a fan of ML Electrostatic speakers but would not buy the Motion series again. The plus side is I feel no need to upgrade my Stage center channel (electrostatic+dome) to the Stage X (AMT replaces the dome.). That said, many people love Motion series speakers, so maybe it is just me.
I also bought 4 GoldenEar speakers with AMT tweeters and love their sound, still fast, but lively and warm - though maybe that is the wrong way to describe a tweeter. Overall, my (admittedly limited) experience would not lead me to conclude any AMT is necessarily superior to a traditional dome.
So while I find it interesting Emotiva has AMTs, and have thought about trying a pair, I wonder if I will find them "more ML" or "more GoldenEar".

I have to agree with TempTag and Chuckienut - there are a lot of dome tweeters that are every bit as good as the AMT tweeter. I wouldn't write the epitaph for dome tweeters just yet. I owned a pair of AM6 speakers for a couple of months - just could not get used to no grills! Other than that they sounded great - so does the soft dome silk tweeter on all the Emotiva Reference speakers - I know - I've owned all of them at one time or another and still have a pair of ERM-1's. One speaker that sticks in my mind as one of the best is the Infinity CMMD 1" metal/ceramic hard dome tweeter. Very good and on-par with the Emo Reference tweeter IMO. And in fact the CMMD tweeter is as close as you can get for timbre matching different brands.
The AMT is as good but not better than the Infinity or the Emo Reference tweeter IMO. The Hiquphon OW2 tweeter that the song towers and the custom three way Selah center use is very good as well. The first thing I listen for when I listen to a speaker is the tweeter - then I move on to the mids. Lows are less important - get a sub if the lows aren't 'there'.
