Jenna Mammina is easily my favorite artist on the Blue Coast repertoire. Her latest album, Close Your Eyes, is beautifully and intimately recorded.
Jenna has a sweet voice and a way of inflecting that enriches every song she sings. Listen to her rendition of James Taylor's "You Can Close Your Eyes" and tell me if you don't fall in love...If that doesn't convince you, try "when They Call Me Home" by Abbey Lincoln,
Her sultry take of "Don't let me Be Lonely Tonight", another James Taylor tune, is another favorite for me. She has that facile ability to sing in an unforced manner that she shares with James Taylor.
"Wicked Games" by Chris Isaak is slow, spare, almost despairing and aching.
