I hate Itunes, well more like I detest it. I've just done an update to the software which I have not done in years and seems like nothing has really changed!
I would love to try something else, I keep hearing Roon, but don't know if it's just the flavor of the month type software. I'll give a try if it's thou, and pretty.
JRiver sounds awesome, but it's not user-friendly to me at all, I guess it's just vast and overwhelming for a guy who just want to listen to the music.
Just my two cents
Dan

I've been using Roon now for a week. I see absolutely NO reason to go back to anything else. I love this damn thing!
I have it set up to send the music to my XMC-1 (the "good" system) and my old Denon AVR-4311 with Emotiva powered speakers (home office) via AirPlay. Works perfectly in both rooms.

Started playing with Roon. Some really great features and I love the AirPlay that Wilbur is using. However, one day in I've run into multiple bugs: 1) a resolution mismatch (already troubleshot and fixed), 2) it blanks out when I minimize it (troubleshooting is much more complicated on this one) making it hard to let it run in the background, and 3) the new Opeth album was on Tidal on my phone but NOT in Roon, 4) the remote app doesn't support older iPads so no remote control for me.
So, not a great start. I'll keep playing with it and see if it is worth the money.
