Wow someone is getting there panties in a knot because they photoshopped a backplane and thought it was better. Next step how about designing the insides and see if it will work for the price. I'm going to guess you can't so stop throwing mud.

Fine, we are scraping the whole back panel. This is our new work in progress back panel for the RMC-1 being worked on from the production line. Though I'm sure someone will complain there aren't enough inputs/outputs. Oh and Lonnie found a great deal on these too:

Speaking of inputs, that's a lot of HDMI inputs, maybe it's just me as I only use 3 (cable TV, BD and ATV) and when my son stays over he plugs in a PlayStation. So 4 is plenty for me, my cousin uses 5 as he has 2 games platforms, which is about the most I have encountered. Does anyone on here use 8? Do you think you would ever use 8? Cheers Gary This isn't my setup but I could see how you could get to 8 Cable, Roku, ATV, HTPC, Bluray, PS, XBox, Chromecast

Wow someone is getting there panties in a knot because they photoshopped a backplane and thought it was better. Next step how about designing the insides and see if it will work for the price. I'm going to guess you can't so stop throwing mud. It's truly amazing how people here don't really read what is actually said and take things way out of whack. I would love for someone to show me where I got my panties in a knot so to speak, or "attacked" anyone. I made the stupid drawing just for fun a while ago now (to see how much room was really back there) and since then this thread had basically died. Then it came alive again and there were a few comments that had already been talked about. So I just reiterated my earlier comments and suggested people go back and read from the beginning so they could be up to speed. Throwing mud? Really? Give me a break man. I never made any claims about my drawing or the validity of whether it could be done, especially for a certain price point. I simply said that it was better (in terms of inputs and outputs because that was the discussion at the time) and it was more the sort of thing I personally expected from a flagship processor (I am stating 100% fact when I say it's currently not the XMC-1 plus a lot more, it's more like an XMC-1 with much more here and much less there. Like buying the most expensive top model line car with the best engine, but no leather heated seats, radio, or moonroof that come with the model down with a lesser engine). Others have stated their differing opinions about their ideas for a flagship processor and it's all good. We can all want / need different things. If the XMR-1 comes to fruition and the back looks like this first round prototype, it just won't be for me. But I don't think it hurts anyone to give thoughts, ideas, and propose other ideas. This is in fact their first go around on this thing (at least that's the way it appears), so nothing is set in stone, especially where Emotiva is concerned. And let's not forget how we here at this forum got Emotiva to make the upgrade to the XMC-1 for Atmos / DTS:X. Without us here pushing it would have never happened (at least not nearly as soon if ever). And wow did I catch some schiitt from people here while I was doing that. Talk about getting mud thrown at me. The fact is Lonnie spoke as if I were all hostile and attacking him, which is utter non-sense. If anyone got their panties in a bunch it was him. Yet since he's an Emotiva employee and this place is full of cool aid fan boys, he can do no wrong and anyone who questions him gets blasted. Amazing. How DARE we question the almighty Emotiva people. How dare we make suggestions or ask why? The blasting happens every single time you mention an Emotiva employee's name to make comments or ask direct questions of. EDIT: I take that back. I believe KeithL and I have had some very good conversations. I have no idea his feelings about me, but I find him to be very gracious and professional and his opinions carry some weight with me. He always goes out of his way to answer things as thoroughly as he can. He doesn't have to do that for sure, but he does. I for one appreciate it. And he takes people's thoughts, ideas and questions into real consideration. He doesn't just bash them or call them an @$$ because he doesn't like what he's hearing. Whether he hates my guts or not, I dunno, but I like and respect him just the same.As big Dan would say, "geesh people." Talk about blowing something way out of proportion.

It's truly amazing how people here don't really read what is actually said and take things way out of whack. .. Maybe shorter, more concise posts would help, three paragraphs to say you want a tape out is a bit much. I have to agree with you there, I still use the tape out on the XMC-1 and would like to see one on the RMC-1, Zone 2 is not an option because, well, it's needed for Zone 2. With all the other inputs you lose me, but I agree on a fixed analog out.

Cheers Gary I currently use 6, but my goal is to cut down to 4. However I'd always want an extra for a laptop or some temporary device traveling through. 8 seems like a lot but not inconceivable for some systems, though I might give up a couple for a tape out or another balanced in.

On the other page I want to address the XLRs being so close. It is because they easily can be. And being that this so large in diameter it gives plenty of room for fat overpriced after market ones. They are close because they can be. RCAs on the other-hand need a bit more room proportionately for aftermarket versions.
I also like the design with the XLRs being on the bottom of the unit

Maybe shorter, more concise posts would help, three paragraphs to say you want a tape out is a bit much. +1. Totally agree. The problem is that I've tried that and people still don't read or only read what they want to hear. Heck, people still think I'm talking about the variable speaker/amp outs (there are at least 2 people above who did that, including Lonnie). Thank you. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person left on earth with this desire. Any processor in the world missing this feature, regardless of price or any other attributes, will not be purchased by me. Totally acceptable. If you don't need them you don't need them. What I find amusing though is that it's perfectly acceptable here to request that there be more HDMI inputs when there are already 8 (inputs that will most certainly be "the old version" and possibly completely outdated just a few years from now), but asking for more analog inputs (when there are only 4, yet they will still be viable and working 10 years from now) gets ridiculed with belittling smart "@$$-ism". Very typical of this forum. Back more to topic, I really am starting to lean more and more towards the solution being similar to what Samsung has done with their TV's. Perhaps the processor itself should have very limited inputs. Then there would be various optional external boxes (switchers) people could purchase that would fit their input needs, that would be cheaper and/or more easily upgraded, and perhaps could even be daisy chained. But as I see it the problem is at least 2 fold. First, that external box would need to seamlessly communicate with the processor (but with things like HDMI copyright protection this could be a royal pain to downright impossible), which leads to #2, without some sort of industry standard for that communication method, any proprietary method will eventually fail (as history has shown us). Which basically puts us back to square 1.
