I love the minimalistic front panel. Not sure why every processor doesn't only have a volume knob, who gets up and physically touches anything anymore. The design is nice but the fact that it looks like every other XPA product and not closer to a premium product like the XPR amps does take away a little bit from an aesthetics standpoint. Obviously the guts of this is what really matters but the RMC is certainly No longer looks the part like the old renderings but that was vaporware and this is the real deal. No, she really doesn't have that premium look!! 🔊 Sound? TBD!! I wouldn't bet against it not having Premium Sound!, but shes NO LOOKER!

You might have been joking but I can already control the XMC1 with Alexa, sure technically you are controlling the harmony hub with Alexa but it then controls the XMC1 Actually I wasn't 🙃 joking! We recieved/purchased a hub and gifted from Santa an Echo, so I'm looking forward to myself and especially the Mrs to control our system with our voices. Much easier for the Mrs! Even though the Harmony is very simple to use the 😎 COOL FACTOR will be nice!! Now ill just have to figure this all out! Ill either start a thread and ask for assistance or figure it out quickly! Either way I know my friends here will help me out. Give me a hint please, where should I start? Txs. this should start and finish it lol harmony and echo intergration

Yeah why would they want it to much everything else they sell. Like if I bought 3 XPA's, 1 with double wides, a 7 channel and a 6 channel why would I want it to look the same. Those idiots at MacIntosh and Marantz have everything match too what fools.

When your remote breaks, that's the backup. If my harmony remote breaks, I can use my phone or tablet or worst case scenario grab the original remote find batteries for it and use it. I was referring to if the original remote breaks, but if you have other remote options available than I agree, the buttons are pretty much not needed.

Pity there is no rca output for the lesser channels...or even all of them. Yes you can cable around that lack but potentially haveing to do so is a significant cost if your amps are not fully balanced and many won't be.
Streaming over the LAN port better be in this unit or its not going to float a lot of boats. I can live without wifi and BT as long as the LAN supports it all.
DSD is also a must have, in usb and LAN...up to at least 128 or 256/512 ideally.
Fingers crossed this available the bugs get sorted out before mid year

Emotiva sells a 7 channel XLR to XLR snake for $37.25 I'm guessing they will have a XLR to RCA snake for around the same.

Some of the most experiensive gear is Fugly (both really shiny and gaudy or overly bland). I think the appearance is nice enough to stand out and simple enough to disappear into a rack of gear and do its job.. it's a very hard compromise.

I guess they're not that "foolish". Russ

Russ To bring up Marantz in the same sentence as McIntosh is foolish . To clarify, my point wasn't that the RMC-1 shouldn't look like other Emotiva products like the XPA line, but they should have a premium look and feel compared to a lesser priced model line. The McIntosh MC601 and MC301 both look like McIntosh amps but the MC601 looks a lot more substantial etc.

It wasn't a hi rez jpeg to be fair Nick ; the final finish could well be a surprise [brushed aluminium like the old days even ? ] and someone important said this recently Those oleds either side of the volume potentiometer look like they could impart a whole glossary of info ; that's what I would put a premium on ;product functionality . I was impressed when my pt7030 said it was getting 8 bit bd video though Who knows what the RMC1 will impart ..

Wow. Interesting speakers.
The new Double Amplifier Modules will allow you to get as much as 14 channels of amplification in a chases, so that would go a long way towards your needs.

Check the 4 little blue arrows around the volume knob. I suspect it is a multi-function knob and it does volume and menu access. My Geek has that. Mark

things i know so far from the forum: (and other forum). Update... * RMC-1 G-G3 Full Dirac Live 24/192 * Price: $4999 (Maybe it will be cheaper). * HDMI 2.0B HDCP 2.2 * UHD 4K * Dolby Atmos and DTS-X * All outputs 192K. * 16 outputs Differential Reference * AKM DAC (version...) 32bit 768k * 9.3.4 7.3.6 all channels fully balanced. * Every channel own Verita 32 Bit DAC (precision balanced mono mode). * Single and double DSD through HDMI or USB (DSD64/128). * Dirac Live all channels 192 kHz. * Reference Stereo Mode. * Multi Axis controller. * Chassis 4RU (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rack_unit#Configurations) * Module bays backside (for optional modules) - First=Balanced input expander module. - Reference Phone Module - Streamer module
Sound quality is for me the most important thing in stereo and surround. Not specific features. But if we talk about features it would be nice that the RMC have some options like: * Auro3D * DTS-Neural * Dolby vision * HDR10 * Maybe some streaming options (from NAS device). * Roon * Bluetooth 5/aptX * Network 1 gig Cat6/7 Rj45 * Dirac Unison * XLR full balanced * Displayport 1.4 * FM/AM functionality * XLR balanced in * HDMI ports. version unknown... 8x in 2x out * AESBE in * USB. version unknown... * USB (maybe for bluetooth dongle) beneath RJ45. * Trigger ports in/out * Zone 2 option. out RCA * Digital in 5x toslink 5x DI * Sharc processors Total output speaker: 16x - RR Height, - RF height, - R back, - R surround, - R Width, - R Front, - Center, - L front, - L width, - L Surround, - L back, - LF Height, - LR Height, - Right Sub, - Center Sub, - Left Sub Updated

We have decided on a unified approach to cosmetic design throughout the product families. The original XPR appearance does not confirm to this and it tied up too much money in the front panel, and it didn't make it sound any better. Not sure why this was released on AVS forum first... not my department. Sorry. The front panel can fully control the unit without a remote! That's a multi-axis controller, not just a rotary encoder. It allows complete navigation of all menu functions and trims. So, not too many controls are needed now. The chassis is 4RU and has module bays on the rear for optional modules. The first will be a balanced input expander module, a reference phono module, and there will be a streamer module too. And who knows what else?? So, there you have a scoop!!
