I was asking about amps because I do not intend to use the RMC-1 "standard" way. My intention was to send the XLR outputs directly into an 16 port XLR audio interface for recording. As such, was trying to get an idea if I could do that or would need additional hardware. With the right mixer or 'interface' and recorder, you should be able to record all 16 analog channels (from your original question), but presumably since you're going to the trouble to convert them to analog, you'd need a 16 channel analog recorder which I imagine are pretty rare? Or is your goal to redigitize them into individual channels? seraphic What do you mean power? If you are recording them, it will be outputting at regular line level output - usually 2 volts - so no "preamplification" would be needed for recording. If you mean using them to power a speaker afterwards then it won't work unless the speaker has an amplifier inbuilt in to it. It won't drive a speaker by itself. It's not a receiver.

Or is your goal to redigitize them into individual channels? Yes, you are correct. I have not seen a 16 channel analog interfaces myself, but was thinking two HQ 8 channel ones would do. I would likely start with one though. The one I was looking at in fact has 12 inputs, but anything over 8 limits you to 96khz vs 192khz with 8 (which I doubt I would need, but always nice to have the ability). This is for upmixing PCM stereo and a few 5.1LPCM sources to 7.1 and higher as needed using the upmixing features of Atmos/DTSx for recording. And the RMC-1 , with its excellent DAC, should work really well here. I have the UFL 25% off discount, but wondering if I should purchase a RMC-1 at release to lock in the price. The RMC-1 will sell for $5,000 it seems, but will it go up in price like the original XMC-1 did after launch?

Yes, the XMC-1 did go up not quite a year after it was released, Emotiva gave plenty of warning for those wanting to get in at the original price (I took advantage of that). Dan has said the $5000 price will stay, but certainly it's possible it will eventually go up. I'd get it when you need it, but keep an eye on the board for any price change announcements, they've always been fair about letting us know when changes are afoot.

Keep it simple. "Emotiva Sound Upmixer" or for short "ESU" Yes something that describes what it does is logical and if dolby can get away with using dolby surround upmixer after using it already ages ago another variation or similar cant hurt if people accept it ?

Oh come on! Let's be imaginative. How about "Emorama"? Describes a full panorama and includes "Emo". What's not to like? I'll take a medium T-shirt. Wait... this is a competition for the best name, right?

I think we should just call it "Bob". Then, whenever anyone asks about it, we can just say..."hey, what about Bob?"
