So, is there any chance that the RMC-1 will provide the capability to play network-streamed digital music? I and my friends are nursing along old Logitech Squeezeboxes and they're holding together but will ultimately fail some day. So far there's just no good replacement for them. It would be great if the RMC-1 just handled it directly.
Aso, please consider working on the ability to upgrade firmware over the internet like the Oppo BluRay players support!

Our fearless moderator, LCSeminole, recently posted a thread about his visit to Emotiva. One of his pictures was a screen shot of a new processor back panel. View AttachmentIn the likely case where the RMC-1 would be 13.3 and not 15.1, I would like the option to choose either 9.4.3 or 7.6.3. Impossible to know which of both would sound best in my space without testing. I wired for both situations.

I spy with my little eye... I expect this is a prototype and not fixed in stone? I ask because a few pages back Dan mentioned the possibility of a second balanced input? I'm doing fine with one now (XMC-1), but I can imagine possibly using two, is there any more discussion there?

This is the current chassis that is being worked on for it's CES debut.

Remember when they teased us in December with the EMP-1? Just sayin... You bring up a good point and since you did let me jump in. The EMP was pretty close to being finished when we showed it early on this year. However as we got closer and closer to flipping the switch, we came to the realization that it needed Atmos. Whether or not people would actually use it didn't really matter because it has become a simple check box now (meaning people won't buy it if it doesn't have it, even though they won't use it). So the decoder section is being re-designed for Atmos. Taking what we have learned from the RMC development, we are working on a single chip decoder that should do the trick. So it hasn't been shelved, just moved back up the bench a ways for a partial re-design. Really frustrating when I look at all the money and man hours that went into the original design, but I guess that is just how things are these days. Lonnie

BTW, I am one who will most definitely use the Atmos capability.

I guessed as much about the EMP and Atmos actually: emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/46016/emersa-emp-1?page=3Is it the same for the BasX processor delays or is that due to something else? In any case I wish you godspeed on all 3; it's clear everyone is more than pumped for all of them.

Very prescient call rbk as it seemed logical that the basx line was going to take awhile in the meantime. The big question now is how many atmos outputs can be crammed into the emp1 chassis anywhere from 7.1.4 to 5.1.2 presumably ? Single chip soc not double like the xmc1 hmm I imagine its still lifestyle small RU oriented but if its bigger at least the separate class d amps will compensate .. Anyway this is o/t in this thread ::)Great news the RMC1 surfaces with something substantial ; and also impressive how emo can rejig a design to suit the market - 1st with the xmc1; now with the emp1 .

So, I see 13 channel outputs plus 3 sub outputs, all balanced. There does not appear to be RCA type outputs, at least not a full compliment (maybe 5.1 only). Since there have been no new Atmos processor chips released, the RMC-1 will probably be restricted to the usual 11 maximum Atmos channels. The wide outputs are probably only used if the DTS Neo X codec is selected. Nothing astoundingly new, except that all channels will no doubt have Dirac which would make the product unique at this point of time. Please correct where my assumptions are astray!

At least one other manufacturer "Acurus" is claiming a 13 channel processor (7.1.6) shipping soon. And dont forget that mds claims to have a 13.3 channel dev board and we know that Emotiva has used mds decoder boards in other products i.e XMC-1 . I imagine that we will see other manufacturers offering fully fledged 13 channel Atmos/Dts:X decoding in 2017.

Are all the outputs fixed or can some of them be reasigned? I mean, I see only two pair of heights, but I think I prefer three pairs of heights and skip the wides. I actually wired for both wides and three pairs of heights.

I spy with my little eye... FYI, I downloaded and printed that picture to save it in my wallet. Whenever I am having a hard time, I can look at it.
