I heard they are hiring boomzilla to replace Lonnie,and instead of new gear, they will rebuild old Heathkit's and Sears gear. Mark Yes, but HIGH END Heathkits and Sears gear. Actually I prefer the vintage tube twinkies. When they built that new plant and followed FDA standards for cleanliness the twinkies got worse. |

The concern I have with threads like these is that if the tone is negative at the beginning, then that becomes the perception of new customers who visit the forum, and in marketing, perception is reality. Sure, it's all armchair quarterbacking, but when the first post uses words like "failed" (honestly, there's a whole universe of products we've 'failed' to bring to market because we simply decided they weren't the right product at the right time) - and "abandoning the high end" (high-end enough for whom?) then you can see how the perception generated by the first post would be negative.
I am glad to see that the tone of the thread turned around toward humor. Let's avoid negativity unless there really is something negative to report, and not just throw indictments around for the sake of generating controversy. If you have a wish list, go ahead and post it, but couching it as a list of things we've somehow "failed" to do as a high-end audio company was more than a little irksome to me when I read it, and I even posted a less-than-diplomatic-sounding rant that I later took down because I decided it wasn't my place to respond in that way.

Hey now! My first system was a Sears fold up turntable with detachable speakers. The integrated amp had volume, balance, bass, and treble controls. It even had a headphone jack. Got me through high school and a couple of years of college.
