Yes, I can confirm that BasX speakers are a thing. They are in the works currently. Stay tuned.
At present, there will be five models: a satellite, an LCR (multipurpose center channel), and three subwoofers, an 8", 10", and 12". Instead of an AMT, these will have a more affordable soft dome tweeter. The SAT and LCR models will have 4" mineral-filled poly cone woofers with rubber surrounds, and all models will have our distinctive industrial design. They will also be quite compact, and smaller than the Airmotiv 4s. When LCSeminole visited our facility, he was able to take some pictures of the prototypes.

Can't wait. Is the performance better than the older Erm series?

Can't wait. Is the performance better than the older Erm series? Speculation on my part,,,,,but,,,,,,,,,(and when has speculation ever stopped any of us?) bahahahaha!!! We are discussing BasX value vs X Series ? Are we not? Can't buy a TA-100 and expect it to sound as good as the XMC-1 ya know. Just sayin. Disclaimer, Ive never heard the ERM's but from what Ive gathered, they were some really good/great sounding speakers for their price point!

the ERM is part of the X series? had no idea. I love the ERM, but with my denon x1300w it is weak in the amp area and isn't driving the speakers as well as I remember with the umc. so perhaps this might be a better fit.

ERMs are much larger than the new BasX sats. You will want to replace those with Airmotiv B1s. The BasX satellites and center are meant to go up against small satellites like the Energy Take satellites that were popular for a long time. And you will want a subwoofer. Thankfully the BasX subwoofers are honest subs that deliver a lot of performance for their price points.

yea you're right. the AMT might work better with the denon.

Can't wait. Is the performance better than the older Erm series? The ERM/ERT series are probably better but until someone can compare them we won't know for sure. I'm betting the ERM/ERT is the better speaker. I still have the ERM-1's I bought when they were on closeout. Some day they will go into my spare bedroom for a two channel vinyl only listening room. Some day...

You don't specific which particular speakers you own? Do you have the ERM-1 or ERM-2, or ERM-6.3 and the ERD-1's as surrounds? Please tell us what are LCR and surrounds you now have, exact model numbers. That said, the original Reference ERM and ERT speakers are very high quality with an excellent soft dome tweeter. I own 3ea ERM-1 as LCR and 2ea ERD-1 for the surrounds. They are 4 ohm speakers with very high power handling. You are seriously under-powering them with the Denon 1300 AVR. It has about 80 watts into 8 ohms with only 2 channels driven. That would be probably about 50 watts with 5 channels. The Denon is most likely very weak into 4 ohms. I would think at high output levels your Denon might possibly heat up at times or even shut down at high dynamic output. The UMC-1 and UMC-200 that I remember were pre-pro's. Maybe you had a UPA amp? You IMO should have an Emotiva XPA-5 gen 1 or 2 or the new XPA Gen3-5 channel amp to drive your Emotiva ERM speakers. That will give them about 5-6 times the power they have now with the Denon and really open them up for instantaneous dynamic power/volume peaks. They also need a high quality powered sub in the HT system. I think the new folded ribbon tweeter in the new Emo passive Airmotiv speakers is excellent. However, I also own the Airmotiv 4's and have done an extensive A/B with the soft dome tweeter in the ERM-1 out in my HT room versus the folded ribbon in the Airmotiv. These tweeters are both excellent. I gave a very, very slight edge to the ERM-1, but an edge to the folded ribbon for off axis, although the soft dome is still excellent and the folded ribbon is super off axis. It sounds like these new small BASX are very nice small compact speakers but not a replacement for your current speakers and they have a traditional dome tweeter (nothing wrong with that). This new BASX speaker sounds to me similar to the older X-Ref Emotiva XRM-4.1 (8.75" high x 5.5" wide x 6.5" deep). It is a small speaker and will sound very nice but not in the same class as your ERM speakers if in fact they are the original ERM Reference speakers. Not to prevent a sale for Emo but I highly recommend you keep the ERM speakers (if they are what I think they are) and get much more power to drive them. Unfortunately, the Denon 1300 is an entry level AVR and doesn't have pre-outs for connection to a separate power amp. You need to match the power amp with a pre-pro. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you.

oh, I have ERM 6.2, and ERD-1 as surrounds. when I had the xpa-2 driving the FL, it was fantastic. but with the weak Denon x1300w it sounds off, like somethings not right. worse yet, I found out recently there are no pre-outs for an amplifier like you said. I'm still not sure if I should return it for credit. thanks, I need to think about what to do.

The ERM-2's and ERD-1's are purposely rolled off in frequency response below 80Hz or so and must have a high quality powered sub to go with them and take over the low bass below 80Hz. The 5 speakers would all be set as "small" in the speaker setup menu. Do you still have the XPA-2? If you are talking about returning the Denon 1300, I would say definitely yes unless you plan on getting five other new speakers that are 8 ohms and of high sensitivity, at least 90dB or more! I would still keep the current speakers (be sure the ERD-1's are correctly set to dipole or bipole) (read owner's manual) and up high on the wall at last 2 feet above ear level. Use boundary switch if the 6.2's are close to a wall. They would sound best away from walls on stands. Nothing In my opinion would touch these 5 speakers for $2000 or less. I would add a high power 5 channel amp, Emotiva used XPA-5 gen 1 or 2 or the new XPA Gen3-5. You could then search for a HT pre-pro or get a higher model AVR (Denon is fine) with pre outs. Other ideas if you do have the XPA-2.

Nah I got rid of the xpa 2 because the airmotiv was slightly better. Thanks for reminding me how great the Erm series are.
