RIP: Freddie King (September 3, 1934 – December 28, 1976) was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is considered one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" (along with Albert King and B.B. King, none of whom are blood related). Mostly known for his soulful and powerful voice and distinctive guitar playing, King had a major influence on electric blues music and on many later blues guitarists.

The blues is a form of jazz. Their style has a definite jazz flavor. Jazz players don't get enough credit.

Jazz is a form of blues, generally played by much more talented musicians….
Many folks are familiar with blues from listening to rock on the radio imo.
Blues is mostly grounded in the pentatonic scale (5 notes) where jazz players generally use all twelve notes of the chromatic scale for much richer lines in most cases. But both are fun to listen to!

I believe blues and gospel begat a lot genres of music, including jazz, country , and rock and roll. I do believe there are a lot of excellent musicians representing all genres.

OK. If these 2 say so then I stand corrected. For years had always been told jazz begat blues.
BTW, I don't know what Bonamassa is playing these days but it is not (traditional) blues. He played the blues very well when he was much younger. Love George B.

And George was the up and coming replacement for Wes Montgomery until he started singing, which turbocharged his career!
BTW, I think Joe B is somewhat of a poser.

A lot of people don't like Joe B. I do, just not liking his style that he's taken on for a number of years now.
