Hey @roryb, love your detailed posts!
Just for the engineering geek in me — I'm in the Computer Hardware business, high-speed Ethernet specifically — I'm curious what the issue with the amplifier hum happened to be? One hypothesis had been a last minute "innocuous" change which might have been the culprit. I'm always curious about things like this because it adds to my list of things to check. For instance, our last "Doh!" moment was when an LED on one of our boards caused Link Flaps. And unfortunately, it was the LED which showed Link Activity. The problem stemmed from having the LED Power Trace run too close to the Transceiver Signal Trace which was at a much lower voltage swing and the LED Power Trace toggling would induce current into the Transceiver Signal Trace. And at 10Gb/s signaling, that's a problem ...

Just saying... BasX12 = SB-2000 in terms of practical performance and build quality.... $399.00 vs. $699.00 You save $300.00!! No brainer. Buy two... BasX12 x 2 = $799.00 SB2000 x 2 = $1,298.00 With Emotiva you save $500.00. Again, no brainer. And if you buy BasX in the next two days you'd save $620.00. Really.. are you kidding?? It's basically two for the price of one!! Free shipping, 3 year warranty, 30 day in-home trial, Emotiva quality... and more output in the deep bass region, where you need it! You're right, it's a jungle out there and Emotiva is KING!!! Peace and love, Big Dan growl……..

Hi all, Greetings from Las Vegas! I spoke to Rory late last Friday while I was at CES and he told me that he had noticed a slight hum when using the production S12 in the sound room where it is very quiet. He then compared the quiescent noise level of the production unit to the approved sample, and yes, it definitely has a very low level hum that is not there on the approved unit. It's not particularly loud, but according to Rory, once you hear it, you can't stop hearing it in a quiet room. I didn't know if the issue was "real" (as in stop the presses) or not, and I told him I'd look at it with Lonnie on Tuesday morning when we returned. Apparently, it is REAL! So, we've got to address this right away. BTW, when the unit goes into standby, it goes away. According to Rory, it is NOT the transformer, but it appears to be a minor ground loop. My suspicion is that an innocent change to either lead dress, or maybe a small board change is causing this issue. Whatever the cause, we'll get this sorted out and replace your unit ASAP. In the interim, if you are otherwise pleased with your unit, hang on to it. We'll send a replacement ASAP, along with a call tag for the original unit once we get a fix worked out. This should happen very quickly. We'll extend your 30 day trial period while this is sorted out and also send all affected S10/S12 owners a formal note on with a plan of action early next week. My sincere apologies for this issue. And thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Sincerely, Dan See, it's things like this that made me decide to to business wtih Emotiva......

Letting everyone know that the S10 Airmotiv subs are back in stock on the site. Excellent news! And my S12 (in the shop) should be similarly ready to go soon, I hope. No rush (really), want it done right, no new issues after solving the old one.

Hi kid's, We have tons of subs in stock, no worries. We are in the middle of correcting a manufacturing error what was discovered in the first production run.
We are replacing the main amplifier PCB in the amplifier larger modules and we'll have S12 and the S15 available for sale again shortly.
The S10 is now available.
We appreciate your patience while we sort this out. We do not want unhappy customers. These are great subs and we do not want any issues in the field.
Cheers, Big Dan

Can you share what the cause of the hum is -- that occurred during manufacturing? I assume it's something really really minor.
Figured I had nothing to lose by asking!

Can you share what the cause of the hum is -- that occurred during manufacturing? I assume it's something really really minor. Figured I had nothing to lose by asking! The factory made an "innocent" PCB layout change for manufacturability reasons without our permission and created a ground loop that cannot be easily fixed. It was cleaner to make new amplifier PCB assemblies and replace the old ones with new, corrected ones. Not a big deal, it just take a bit of time a effort.

As a side note... the S15, S12, and S10 are all insanely good at their respective price points! You're gonna' be VERY pleased.

I suspected it was some "innocent" change that ended up causing issues. Fascinating. Glad to hear you guys nailed the issue and are taking care of it (like usual!) :-)

For my brief period testing the S12, I will second that "insanely good" part. Up here on the 2nd floor, with some movies that punch the low end, the S12 was incredibly "frightening" (in the good sense) for what it put out. (Movie scenes like "Master and Commander, the early cannon fire between the ships, and in Star Wars II, the opening sequence with the spaceship coming in and landing, and then blowing up).

With a brand new piece, there should not be a "try this try that" crap, if there is a hum with nothing connected then it might be a lemon.....
