Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but does anyone know if there are plans to release a preamp around the $599 price point? It feels like we need a middle ground between the two that would still hit a reasonable price point. Was there anything discussed in the Emersa line?

Yes there is an Emersa Preamp coming soon to a two channel system near you ! There will be according to Big Dan the BasX, Emersa, X Series and the big RMC Surround Pre Pro. What else pops up is anyone's guess.

Yes there is an Emersa Preamp coming soon to a two channel system near you ! Well it's either that or see if anyone traded in an XSP-1 over Christmas - when they eventually get posted to flea-pay - and see if I can pick one up for the same money...

Redcoat23 I like your handle. I would scrape up the money to buy the XSP-1 for an Analog preamp that will perform well above anything that cost near it. Or, wait on the Emersa gear that Emotiva said will be out soon. That XSP-1 will let you integrate it with your Surround system if you want and has one of the best Bass management features out there. The Emersa is going to be compact and offer excellent analog performance per Big Dan and he is the Man !

While the XSP-1 has bass management IMO it's a stretch to call it 'one of the best'. For good bass management get an AVR or AVP (Processor) to integrate 1 or more subs.

I integrate 2 tower speakers an 2 12" sealed subs with the XSP-1 with great success. I would call it "a huge stretch" to find any AVR or AVP to match the XSP-1 in 2 channel sound quality.

Redcoat23 I like your handle. Thanks Man As an Englishman living stateside, I like to poke fun at my US "cousins" I would scrape up the money to buy the XSP-1 for an Analog preamp that will perform well above anything that cost near it. I have one already in one system. I was looking for another preamp in my office - strictly two channel so surround isn't needed there. I'll probably wait to see what comes up refurbished on the 'bay.

While the XSP-1 has bass management IMO it's a stretch to call it 'one of the best'. For good bass management get an AVR or AVP (Processor) to integrate 1 or more subs. The XSP-1 performs quality analogue bass management, no processing or reprocessing required. Whereas I have yet to find and AVR or processor that does't do an ADC and then a DAC to achieve bass management. Hence that's 2 more processes (analogue to digital and digital to analogue) that has to be carried out, if we add correction that's another process. The cost of any processor or AVR able to do that without losing something in those translations would be multiples of what an XSP-1 costs, if one could be found that is. Cheers Gary

Well, we are going into overtime waiting for the Emersa line. Is it going to happen or not? Looking to upgrade from my PT-100.

As an owner of the XSP-1 I am biased but I think for what the new Emersa will cost new (sub $600 range) I’d bet that you will easily be able to grab a used XSP-1. Bass management is nice but I’ve never used it. On the flip side the phono stage is no slouch. I’m running a $1200 MM cartridge through it and I feel no need to upgrade.
I think dollar for dollar you might have a rough time finding a fully differential balanced preamp with a great phono stage and bass management. YMMV.
All the best!

Well, we are going into overtime waiting for the Emersa line. Is it going to happen or not? Looking to upgrade from my PT-100. Per Emofest discussions, yes. But, they want to release the whole line at once, and the last item to get finished is the pre-pro. And that falls in line to get done after the XMC-1 upgrades and RMC-1. So, until you see the RMC-1 shipping - I would not expect much news. Mark

Last I heard was Emersa was finished except for the pre/pro which was going back to the drawing board. I wish they would have just released what was finished. It would seem that Emersa release is not imminent. Last we were told they are waiting to release the whole line at once.

While it will be interesting to know what a $599 preamp will offer, as a recent PT-100 owner I wonder what it could offer that would be worth $300, at least to me. Sonically, the PT-100 is an incredible bargain, with a soundstage at least the equal of my DC-1, plus trigger, sub outs, phono preamp, and FM tuner. Granted, for the money you have to put up with a menu system that reflects the downside of the software vs hardware tradeoff, but for $300 I'll go through the head-scratching process to change between the two FM channels I care about. Once again, the Bas-X PT-100 is a remarkable value and a much-valued entry in my setup.

If nobody needs a subwoofer output, I found the analog preamp of the DC-1 to be of surprisingly good quality.
