Thanks guys, but still nothing. I enabled cec, rebooted, nothing. Mentioned this elsewhere Neekos but if you have hi speed cables ; hi speed with Ethernet may be worth a try. HDMI realise the cec limitations and so are making us upgrade to 2.1 hdguru.com/hdmi-2-1-to-bring-robust-home-theater-experience/

Never liked ARC. Mine is switched off in my AVR. Use separate cables to direct inputs at the TV.

Got it going guys. Had to do a little trial and error. Good to hear. I had it working from day one. 15 months later I did an XMC-1 factory reset and ARC stopped working, even though I had backed up my settings before and restored them after the reset. I did plenty of following the manual, trial and error, swearing and a call to Emotiva with no joy so ended up with a 10M optical cable.

It's anything but user friendly and on top of that it intermittenly stop working, sometimes for ever sometimes for a short time. However, in all fairness, it's the HDMI spec for CEC and ARC that is crap.

IIRC, it was the CEC chip that was broken, which is located in the display unit of the XMC-1. Typically, the XMC-1 has to go in to Emotiva for repairs to find the problem and then replace the display unit.

I feel the same is wrong with mine. I just don't know if it's worth the hassle to send it in. For now the optical works, but it is annoying to have another 5 meter cable in the mix

Sure. Samsung UN65JU7100 via high speed HDMI 2.0 cable to XMC ARC output. All other XMC HDMI inputs work properly. Only the TV streaming capabilities do not work through HDMI and thus I am stuck with the optical input from the tv

Is your XMC-1 new enough to have the new HDMI board with one HDMI 2.0 out?

Correct. I have the older 1.4 board AnyNet+ enabled in Samsung settings (under General)? Not sure it's needed but it certainly can't hurt, CEC enabled in the XMC-1? And finally, in Samsung settings Sound -> Speaker List, you have/can choose Receiver (HDMI)?

I'm a bit confused now. Can you see the XMC-1 in Menu -> Sound - Speaker List? Yes, the "Receiver (HDMI)" is circled. Then I go into The Support menu to check the Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) and do a device check, the XMC comes up temporarily when searching but when it finishes the search, it states no device found.
