Hmmm...I'm guessing that's exactly what the inline RCA device is, no?

Yes, and it's still a bad idea

The general advice for a 24dB crossover is an octave above the F3 point. General advice from whom and for what application? For music, take advantage of your most musical instrument, your loudspeakers. Yeah, by forcing them to reproduce frequencies they are incapable of. That makes sense. It's a little 5in woofer. For a crossover to provide a seamless blend, it needs to be at a point where both speakers are fairly flat. -tm

Hmmm...not seeing that feature on the Dayton subwoofers or on either Outlaw subwoofer. Dayton and Outlaw are two more. Seems like plenty of [reputable] options to me. Or did you already buy or have something in mind? -tm

I hear ya man. The other design goal for my NEW 2.1 system is MAJOR BANG-FOR-THE-BUCK. I plan to drive the Chane A1.4 with either the BasX A-100 or BasX A-150. The woofer in the Chane is only 5 1/4". Why not let the more powerful amp in the subwoofer do the heaviest lifting? Assuming that you're willing to negotiate, can you do 70Hz? :-) Chane A1.4 Frequency Response: 50Hz-31.5kHz +/- 3dB 135mm high-excursion SplitGap mid-woofer with XBL2 motor Improved sensitivity and linearity Very long, linear cone excursion Distortion reduced over 50% versus conventional drivers Aluminum frames, damped cones, and double-ventilated motors High thermal capacity for reliable, high output Your Chane monitors are high performing loudspeakers. Why deny them their full potential? They are likely to sound better with a subwoofer crossed over to take advantage of their performance. Bass material can become directional at 100Hz and directional upper bass is best joining the stereo imaging of your loudspeaker pair.

The high-level outputs on the Daytons and Outlaws might just be pass-thrus and not high-passed. You'd have to check out the manuals.
